Hi,
try setting the sata controller to Basic/IDE mode if it is in AHCI.
I have read numerous compatibility problems caused by sata dvds :(

Re: IR Reciever

Well there are some that are "good" as long as they work with your hardware (tuner etc) so the best thing is to try them out. Here are some: GB-PVR (free) http://www.gbpvr.com MediaPortal (free) http://www.team-mediaportal.com/ ChrisTV (commercial) Snapstream Beyond TV (commercial) You can...

Re: Processor Performance

core architecture is one of if not the most important factor. for example, if you downclocked a pentium 4 to 500mhz, it would still perform much much better than a pentium 3 or 2 at that speed Especially for p4 i believe this is not exactly true. Willamette P4s if i remember correctly, were perfomi...

Re: processor upgrade

Even if you find a list of all the supported processors for your chipset, you can't know if all fo them will work. The problem is that bios updates are needed to support later processors. I was in the same witchhunt, looking to update my laptop that has a willamette p4 (yaiks) at 1.7. Ok the chipset...

Avg or Avast! I can't really tell which to recommend. Have used both and they worked great for me. Another one is avira, but its update process was a real pain in the ass for me,it was the exact opposite of seamless and fast

Re: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Processor Review

There's a lot of chat and reports of users that saw processor degradation for keeping those cpus @ 1.41-1.45V There are also people who didn't have such a problem at this voltage. There are also people who had their chip degraded by using 1.3-1.349v which is considered safe by Intel (and should pro...

Re: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Processor Review

Nice review! I don't find what this processor has to offer appealing, except for the low consumption. Could be nice for an ultra quiet/low wattage thin htpc. What was the max overclock you could reach with ~1.35v? Having the degradation possibility in mind, it would be nice to know what is the max o...

Re: Sharkoon Rebel12 Value mini review

Thanks! The case costs 76euro excluding VAT, that is around 120$. Good price for the standards here, but its missing 3 fans (a 140mm and 2x80mm). Purchase of those fans rises the price close to Antec nine hundred (It's priced at 144$ here). Especially, the 140mm fan was a bit expensive. I only manag...

Re: How much have they changed?

You also forgot Pentium M's. Pentium 4-D,Core 2 and Pentium M are different in terms of architecture in general. Core 2's predecessor is Pentium M There are some advancements in the architecture of each stepping of course That could be like more cache or other additions (like the addition of sse3, s...

Re: Q6600 & E8400 FSB Barrier...

Nice o/c but i believe the max safe volts for 45nm core 2's is around ~1.35v (intel specification). You are going to degrade it :( You can think of it as running an E/Q6xxx @~1,8v with intel's stock cooler (i believe its 1.55 or 1.50 max according to intel). Not a good idea! Plus i believe the high-...

Re: Legacy computer, winFLP or win2000?

Well i finally went for XP sp1 plus lots of tweaks. I didn't tweak themes since i wanted it to look friendly. I also managed to upgrade it to 96mb of ram. It's running pretty smooth, i didn't believe it was possible. It boots up with ~45mb ram usage (70mb is ram+vm in the picture). It's also loaded ...
