Re: 1TB WD GREEN slowing my pc down?
WD Green = 5,400rpm drive. 6.0 is the highest that Win7 will rate a non SSD drive (atleast in my experience, RAID-0 WD Raptors x 3). The newer 1 or 2tb blacks are about twice as fast as the green power drives.

Re: HP Mediasmart and other WHS Servers
With WHS you can stream pictures, music and videos to an Xbox with out a media center PC host. If your wanting to use the media center interface on the Xbox you still need a host PC with MC and set up the 360 as an extender. One of the good things about WHS v1 is that you can add any hard drive of a...

Re: What Does 10TB of WD Hard Drives Look Like? Sexy Time!!!
I checked on my LCC (Load/unload Count) and the 1tb drives are around 140 in 8080hours, while the 2tb drives are over 21,855 in 1770hours. I went ahead and changed the idle3 setting from 8.0sec to 300sec(the max). I should probably just disable intellipark but I'll wait and see what the changes do t...

Re: What Does 10TB of WD Hard Drives Look Like? Sexy Time!!!
I've been running 6tb of the "EADS" version in my WHS machine, 2-1tb drives since last summer and 2-2tb drives since November. I didn't see these "AV-GP" versions at the time or I would have bought them instead since they seem better suited for a server environment. I can say tha...

Re: Anyone Used an AT&T Phone For Video Streaming Via Tethering?
Using my Fuze (via custom winmo 6.5 rom) I got about 2.9 down 0.56 up with 4 bars inside the house. However it won't sustain those speeds and quickly slowed to a crawl with follow up testing. I have steamed Hulu HD in the past, but its not up to it tonight. Maybe there is too much demand, or perhaps...

I've built two HTPC's with the Compucase version of this case.. One with the 120w and the other with the 200w power supply, and both are half the price.

Re: Why is only 6GB of 12GB Usable in Windows 7?
I just noticed that my 4gb was showing up as (3.25 usable). I enable Memory remapping in the BIOS (ASUS board) and the (3.25 usable) is now gone, it just shows 4.00 GB now. I'm not sure if this is the issue you guys are talking about, but looking around actually helped me!

I wonder how well it would run WHS? It seems like a perfect fit since you don't need RAID for data redundancy.

Re: ASUS AT3N7A-I A330 NVIDIA Ion Motherboard Pictures
The Zotac ION MB has a Mini 1x PCIe slot you could probably use for something other than WiFi if you really wanted. But neither of the mITX G9300 HTPC builds I've done needed any add on cards (nor do I have room for them).

Re: ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Seashell Netbook Review
What is the difference in clock speed between High Performance and Super performance modes in CPUz?? Or all the Hybrid engine modes for that matter... I'm wondering how much they really affect the battery life as well as performance bench marks.

Re: ASUS Eee PC 1008HA Seashell Launches in North America
The 1008HA still uses the origional GMA950 doesn't it? I wonder when they are going to release the G40. I doubt it will make a big difference except for 720p playback, but it would be nice to see if its more efficent.

Re: Which processor for a new HTPC build
I recently built a HTPC with an E7400 and a Gigabyte GeForce 9400 mATX. Its a good quiet combo.. even with the stock Intel heatsink. The Case I used was a HEC 7KJ9, its a decent case for under $50.

Re: Intel DG45ID and DG45FC Motherboard BIOS Update 0085
0085 did fix HW playback on the DG45FC, I'm pretty sure. Its playing Iron man averaging 17-21% on an E8400. I did have to force the bios update with the jumper though, the windows installer kept stalling on the mamagment SW flash. I also had to update to PDVD8, the picture was all jumbled with versi...

Re: Intel DG45ID and DG45FC Motherboard BIOS Update 0081
0085 Came out today... Both 0083 and 0085 killed H.264 playback on my system. The movie still plays, I still get sound but all I get is colored bars on the screen. I'm really not sure whats going on, maybe it needs a driver update that they haven't released yet. I tried reinstalling the current driv...

On the hostage scene there is a barrel of a rifle on the left side of the screen... when the camera pans out keep looking at the barrel of the gun... you should see if jerk a few times when the camera pulls back. I watched that scene about ten times last night looking very carfully and everything w...

Re: Blu-Ray Performance - Intel X4500HD Versus Radeon HD 4830
I just built a system with the DG45FC and Enable Hardware Acceleration (Intel ClearView) is an option. Also the box remains checked thru-out video play back. This is with the most current Bios and Drivers found on Intels website (23-Oct-08) I only have Iron Man on Blu-Ray and CPU usage averages abou...

Broken SATA connector, now what?
Well unfortunatly I broke the SATA connector on one of my raptors while installing a new motherboard (ASUS G45) and while rerouting the cable in the case I put a little bit too much tension and the connector broke. I managed to put the piece from the drive into the cable end and thread the contacts ...

Well Gigabyte finaly released thier first G45 board. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2877 However the disapointing thing for me is that the PCIe x16 slot is limited to x4 via the south bridge... ouch. I know that its aimed at the HTPC crowd but cuttin...
