Re: iBUYPOWER Chimera 2 Gaming System with an I7-980X CPU
1. This is my entry. 2. I'm also now a fan of LegitReviews on Facebook and 3. I've updated my F@H to team 38296 on my computers.... My userid (ubiquityman) is not showing up on the team list yet, but that should happen in the next 24-48 hours. If I don't win the machine, can I have the GTX480 fried ...

Re: D975XBX2 configuration question (7 drives)
You don't need to set up a RAID array.
The controller can remain in RAID mode and have single drive connected to each channel.
However, once you've set up Windows with the controller set on RAID, do not switch to AHCI, even though each drive is in single drive mode, otherwise, the OS may not boot.

Re: NVIDIA PR Talks Openly About Intel's Larrabee Chip
I think it's a losing battle for Nvidia and AMD. Intel is to processors what Microsoft is to software. Eventually, with their own fabs, and huge R&D budget, Intel will steamroller Nvidia and AMD on GPUs. Intel's already done so on CPUs. Unless AMD can get back on top with CPU performance (which ...

Thanks!
That would seem to indicate that the 2nd CPU only uses about 60W.
Does that jive?

Interestingly, they show the 2x QX9775 in all the benchmarks except the power consumption.
That was s little disappointing. I was wanting to see how well it performed as a heater in the winter.

Re: D975XBX2 Marvell Controller Problem
4 RMAs and 1 year later, my BA2 went back to Intel.
However, I can recommend the board if you are not going to use the Marvell controller.
There were a few other quirks, but the Marvell issue was the show stopper.
My new mobo, Gigabyte EX38-DQ6 has been very stable though.

Re: D975XBX2 Shutdown/Standby Problem
I'll have to try the reset button on my computer, but I would expect that nothing will happen if it is in suspend. After a year of trying to get my XBX2 working properly, I've given up on the S3 standby Marvell controller issues and returned the board back to Intel. I've switched to a Gigabyte EX38D...

How aptly named... X2 Coincidentally, the name of the 2nd X-Men movie is "United", which these two Radeons are! Or how about some bad X2 jokes.... What do you tell you mom when you put three X3s in crossfire on a BadAxe2? "Look, 6X ma" (that's a 6 sigma joke too.) Why did the 387...

Poll: Intel D975XBX2 - Marvell Chipset Problems
Are you having any problems with the Marvell Chipset on your Bad Axe 2 motherboard? Some symptoms include: 1) drive is missing after boot or after suspend. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odJbxes88ik ) 2) system hangs on boot sometimes with the HD light cycling on for 10 second, off for 10s, repeat...

Re: d975XBX2 Raid maytrix or Raid Marvell Help!!
Yes, steer away from putting anything mission critical on the Marvell controller--it's crap. I'm so frustrated with this thing. It's been 12months and Intel still does not have a solution for this problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odJbxes88ik So, stick to the Intel controller. With Intel Matri...

Re: D975XBX2 Shutdown/Standby Problem
Do you have a pinout for your power supply? I want to know if it has the proper 5V standby line to the motherboard. Does it have Pin9 (usually purple I think). it's supposed to be 5V all the way through, unless AC is unplugged, but I'm wondering if it doesn't have that line, does the motherboard jus...

It should work. If you get a chance to try another power supply, do that.
Let me think about this one for a couple of days.

Re: D975XBX2 Shutdown/Standby Problem
I mistakenly thought it previously worked, then after you flashed, it stopped, but if you've never tried it with older bios, I wouldn't start now. 1) does your system appear to go into standby? 2) did all of your devices show D3/S3 capability 3) what does "DUMPPO cap" say (do a copy/paste)...

just to be clear,
are you saying that this used to work, then after your BIOS update it didn't work?
Did you try going back to an older BIOS revision?
