Re: D975XBX2 - No POST

Just out of curiousity, did you do a hard power-off when switching the BIOS to "maintenance mode"? I noticed certain kinds of hangs (i.e. bad overclock) forced me to unplug power for about 10 seconds. (I waited until the green-LED on the motherboard stopped glowing.) I guess the 'off' swit...

Re: D975BX2 now says 1066 FSB 0n there web site..?

I was able to get the D975XBX2 working with the E6850. I have a Revision 504 board, and I used the latest BIOS (2792.) I had to manually override several BIOS settings: 1) Reference-frequency from 'auto' to 266 2) Memory-frequency from 'auto' to 533 3) CPU-frequency from 'auto' to 333 The first two ...

Re: Intel D975XBX2 Supported Processors Update (1333MHz Bus)

Ok, thanks to workplace, I have an Intel Core2 Duo E6850 for testing, on my D975XBX2 (rev 504, BIOS 2792) motherboard. I previously had an E6600 ( 333 FSB, CPU overclocked to 3.0 GHz) in the motherboard, and 2 x 2GB Infineon DDR2-667 ECC DIMMs (4GB total). I swapped CPUs without bothering to clear C...

Re: Intel D975XBX2 Supported Processors Update (1333MHz Bus)

I noticed Intel has updated the date on the processor-support list to August 26. Sadly, no E6x50 cpu-support. Looking around xtremesystems.org and this forum, it seems SOME people have been able to boot with an E6x50 in their D975XBX2, and some haven't. Is it a random thing, or are there some common...

Re: Intel D975XBX2 Supported Processors Update (1333MHz Bus)

My rig is running 4GB of DDR2 800 ECC RAM @ 5-5-5-15/16 (4 *1GB) Kingston KVR800D2N5K2/2G Grr...I'm jealous because my ECC-RAM is only DDR2-667 :) Is your rig currently set to REF=333 MHz (FSB=1333)? Sporadic reports (at xtremesystems.org) of E6850 attempts (in the 975XBX2 motherboard) show some wo...

Re: Intel D975XBX2 Supported Processors Update (1333MHz Bus)

Ok ... has anyone tried an E6x50 on the D975XBX2 with all 4-DIMMs populated? I don't have an E6x50 yet, but my current E6600 won't POST @ Vstrap(REF)=333, with all 4 DIMMs installed. My board: Intel D975XBX2 Rev-504 BIOS 2770 Leadtek PCI-e 7900GS 256MB ATI TV Wonder 650 (PCI) (Watchdog disabled) (A...

Thank goodness for the 2nd (backup) PC. I only have ECC memory as well, but the recovery floppy process works because the computer doesn't boot into BIOS per se. It's NOT booting DOS like one might expect. The floppy drive access is all done through BIOS. Make sure you leave it for 5 minutes. It ta...

On my 975XBX2 (rev 504, BIOS 2674), I've found that 4 DIMMs vs 2 DIMMs makes a difference in terms of overclockabilty. First, there's a quirk with that 'reference freq' setting (in the Memory setup page.) If I set it to 667MHz (default for my RAM), the system won't POST, and my RAM-freq to 667MHz (f...

Doesn't work here. rev 505 with QX6700 & 2GB ECC RAM. I've tried unplugging EVERYTHING: USB, PS2, Video card, hard drives, DVDs, Floppy, etc. Pulled out the battery and waited for a few hours with the power supply disconnected. No dice. YES, the 2745 flash-update punished me good!1!!! (haha, I ...
