Re: Corsair RM650 Power Supply Review

Yea, I agree that it looks like it would take a long time to pay off the difference. The tree huggers make it sound like it's a huge feat for the higher efficiencies...Of course if you look at the grand scale, or a company with 1,000's that little bit starts to make a difference. The energy "sa...

Re: Corsair RM650 Power Supply Review

I'm no expert at it, but with the efficiency, if your computer actually USES 300W, then it would be whatever the loss in efficiency is plus the 300W. 70% = 390W (would computer would be pulling) 75% = 375W 80% = 360W 85% = 345W At $0.10 per KWh, 12hrs per day, 30 days per month... 70% = $14.04 75% =...

Re: Budget Gaming PC

FX 6300 or the Intel 4130 Either card is good, pretty close in performance. MB, get one with the features you want from a major manufacturer (ASUS, GB, MSI for example). Skip ASRock and second tier boards. If you're not going to overclock, pretty much any board will work for you. If you are going to...

Re: Galaxy S4 v HTC One

If you tend to drop your phone at all, a case is a worthy investment. Otterbox and Ballistic make some tough cases. At CES 2013, Ballistic had a demo tossing a phone in one of their cases against a brick wall (about 5 feet away) and letting it drop onto a brick floor. Watching a cell phone (S3 in my...

Re: ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme Motherboard Review

Yea, it's a bit pricey for what I would pay for an ECS board. I've had several in the past and had good luck with them, but not one at this price. I'd rather spend that amount on a board by ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc. Those that are known for their high quality boards. Of course some will get it and h...

Re: Plastic Sheet Covering PSU Fan?

Any harm? Highly doubtful, the fan will still spin and continue to cool the PSU. When the fan kicks in, it might take longer for the PSU to cool down, but it won't do any harm.

Re: Plastic Sheet Covering PSU Fan?

It does it by allowing the air only one direction to enter the power supply, when the air goes in one place, it has to move to allow for more air to come in; forced convection I believe it would be.

I bet those will come in handy when you're out at different events. I know at CES, I could've used it more than once.

Re: Plastic Sheet Covering PSU Fan?

I've seen that before, and when I've asked that question all I ever get is that it helps to direct the airflow and help the airflow in the power supply.

gardnerphotos wrote:Could you possibly give me the dimensions of the board in mm? Can't seem to find them anywhere! Thanks
The first page provides the dimensions in CM, 34.5cm(L) x 26.4cm(W) XL-ATX Form Factor. Which translates to 345mm(L) x 264mm(W), which matches up to the standard XL-ATX motherboard dimensions.

Would love to get a Herman Miller, but that's a bit more than I could afford for a chair :D Looks like I'm just going to Office Depot and picking up the one I have (just the newer model and different color).

Re: new rig - AMD FX-8320 / Intel Core i5 3570

I know this is a little late, and I can't speak for the current generation AMD CPUs...but when I finally upgraded to an i5 from my AMD 1090T (which ran everything smoothly game/video wise), it was purely for the video rendering speed. Taking a home movie to DVD would be maybe an hour on my 1090T to ...

Not saying it's true about the amount of radiation, but keep in mind that some people smoke for decades without getting cancer, but others get it in a few years of smoking...Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't :P

Re: TCL ANNOUNCES 50” 4K Ultra-HD LED TV For $999

It's the same thing everytime consumer TV technology changes...Broadcasters/studios won't support 4K until there are enough users out there. Users don't want 4K until there is a steady supply of movies/shows. It takes time for it to become popular. Companies like this will help speed that up, howeve...

Re: Windows Startup Times - Where is the Info Found?

Yes, that's correct. Have to keep in mind that it calculates it until the CPU is at 80% idle at the desktop. If you have stuff that starts up in the background (AV/Spyware for example) it'll keep counting until it's loaded and CPU is idle... That's why you can actually look through it, and see exact...
