Flawless new build
I have just built the computer in my sig and it went so smooth it was spooky. Every part arrived and without fail worked as advertised. I was able to configure the SSD/HDD easily, and startup time is now 30 seconds from button push to ready to go. Temps are very low for the CPU and the GPU is at lea...

Yeah that's why I was asking about the condition you got it in. Glad to hear it is running.
Go to the Corsair site to get the exact mem voltage for this mobo.

Re: D975XBX2 board wont post
Try booting with no memory. The book says you will get 3 beeps with no memory. Once you get the BIOS you'll have to goose the memory voltage up a little for 4 Gigs. That BIOS reset jumper is a bit tricky, I remember having some problems with it. My Badaxe2 took a long time to get going too, but it h...

Random restarts kinda smells of a bad PSU to me. Anyone else?

Re: D975XBX2 - SATA Revisited
I run the "other" ones with a RAID 0 and a couple single drives. There is something in the archives about problems booting from the Marvell ports, I just ran across that problem with trying to boot Win 7 from the Marvell, so I didn't I booted from the Intel ones. But I do remember issues w...

I think I'll hold off til they get a few more cores going. Plus I just don't feel right paying less than a grand for a new processor.

Re: when correct BIOS settings would not work
Mine has a choice of several HDD's and RAID's. Sometimes the boot order gets screwed up and it tries to boot from a non boot disc. Then I do all sorts of repair antics only to find that all I had to do was have it boot to the correct disc or array in my case. I hope your problem ends up to be someth...

Is there a boot menu in your BIOS? make sure you are booting from the correct device.

What voltage you running? You need around 2 volts for the memory.

Re: Crash after cold start, then runs forever on 2nd start
I believe the situation has resolved itself. All the tweaking I did had very little impact evidently, because now all settings are stock except mem voltage. It must have picked up an update to something or one of the SP1 betas did it. I am now running the real SP1 and it's still running fine and dan...

Re: D975XBX2 configuration question (7 drives)
I guess I shouldn't really mention that the Marvell controller is so good for me, it might turn on me. It really hasn't given me any grief. I can't really say what is causing my 1st start issue. I am currently fooling with the voltages on the FSB and the MCH/ICH thing, tried slightly higher and now ...

Re: D975XBX2 configuration question (7 drives)
Uman, that is correct, my XBX2 still has a problem with 1st starts, in that it always crashes. So, that would explain all those rebuilds.

Re: D975XBX2 configuration question (7 drives)
I got rid of my redundant arrays and run 1TB RAID0 (2X500)on each controller, one is used as a backup for the other. The other slots are running 2 500's and 2 160's which do various backup and caching. My experience with the Marvell controller is good rather than bad, I've never had a problem with i...

Re: XBX2 Freezing
Hmm external, I didn't know how your power connected to that disc, certainly shouldn't seem to effect the PSU. The random freezes might indicate power problems, not as good a indicator as random restarts however, which it sounds like you experienced. What sort of environment is the computer in? Has ...

Re: XBX2 Freezing
Just a guess, you just installed the new drive before this started happening, seems like a power issue.
Do you have a spare PSU or access to one? Could be the reason the RAID is flaky too.

Re: Crash after cold start, then runs forever on 2nd start
Disregard previous post. It just did it again with the old BIOS. I just got a 950 watt PSU the other day as a backup. I guess I'll drop that in and see how it goes.
Sorry for the bad info.

Re: Crash after cold start, then runs forever on 2nd start
My problem returned after updating BIOS to 2809. I returned to 2802 and the problem went away again. Looks like I'll be staying with 2802 unless something remarkable is fixed with a newer BIOS.

Floppies won't write
I have a problem with floppies, they won't write. I can read fine but they won't write. I have tried 3 new floppy drives and none write. My other Vista desktop has the same problem, it's a P4 3.2EE. My laptop with Vista reads and writes floppies OK.

Since installing RC1 my memory score went from 5.5 to 5.6. Everything else was maxed before RC1 and still is.
