You should probably consider a 533FSB Dothan. They usually cost the same as the 400FSB Dothans at the same speed. Overclock better as well. But yeah you can't drop a Pentium M into a desktop P4 board without some kinda adapter and the only company who makes one is Asus and it only works with Asus bo...

That looks downright sexy. By any chance do you know what kind of socket it's on? Or is that under NDA?

doesn't look too active anymore... I got my adapter back from ASUS, but my boards are still fried... can't be much help :( This thread had has 20,000 views on it and it's going up, so people are still reading it. My CT-479 died a couple of days ago, my P4P800-SE seems to be working completely fine ...

Yeah I've tried flashing back and for between the 1008 official BIOS and the 1009.001 beta BIOS. With the official one I can't adjust the vcore setting and it still defaults to ~1.56V. Oddly enough, it always defaults to that, I have both a C-M 340 (default: 1.356V) and a C-M 350 (default: 1.26V). E...

Have you tried disabling VPU recover? I heard that sometimes it would be the cause of crashing. Couldn't hurt to try.

Evilsizer When you say the lowest vcore is 1.475 do you mean that's the lowest option your BIOS allows? Because I almost have the exact same problem (lowest I can set is 1.500V, highest 1.600V). I don't mind having 1.6V as the max but I'm not doing extreme overclocking so I'd like options all the w...

i thought it had to do with amd running less pipes than intel cpus... Well a shorter pipeline at least. Pipeline stalls, branch mis-predictions, pipeline flushes, and cache misses are less costly on a shorter instruction pipeline. I'm no expert on the matter, but you can read up on pipelining it at...

holy crap! that spanks the fx-55 because it costs a few hundred less and outperforms it when overclocked. that's pretty awesome. Well sorta, They used 3-3-3 timings @ DDR400 on the Athlon64 platform, which probably didn't help it too much :? Though I think they were trying to "even out the pla...

http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=770ct479&page=7 Granted they probably didn't use the fastest memory or the best timings on the P4 system but it's probably pretty close ( I don't have any experience with DDR2) But you can see how well the Pentium M 770 is doing even with DDR333 sin...

Well, Sadly I don't have a replacement CT-479 adapter card yet... ASUS told me on Thursday 5-5-2005 that they are sold out and are unable to replace my card. I have not heard anything positive or negative on the 1009 BIOS... My card failure resulted in killing the P4P800-SE and the P4C800E motherbo...

All the scores are within 2 fps of each other, on the same map. I am not complaning as my scores are 60fps (way bet...

Thank you Apoptosis for keeping us informed! I just got my Celeron 340 (1.5Ghz/512KB L2) CPU in (bought it for $40!) and I can hardly wait for the 479 adapter to show up in stores!! But I hope Asus will support the SiS chipsets, save me from having to get a new board (already have a P4S800-D (655TX/...

Any word if Asus will support the P4S800 series boards? (SiS 655TX/FX). I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they don't support them (maybe a technical issue) but I don't see why not, it's the same P4 bus...
