Re: SATA DVD Burner on Intel/Marvell Controller
See the thread on the Marvell problems. The Marvell has many issues and I don't trust it, as of bios 2802. The Intel controller works great. I added SATA PCI card to replace the Marvell junk.

Re: D975XBX2 Marvell Controller Problem
I just received an email from intel regarding my open case about the Marvell controller not working with DVD drives. They indicated that they are working a bios update to fix it.
I think if we continue to open cases with Intel, they will fix the problems. They have been updating the bios (2792).

Re: Very helpful forum, Thanks!
Thanks for the friendly welcome everyone. I did try some of those mentioned software packages, thanks. The adobe packages gave me trouble. The Pro would not install and the Elements version seemed "buggy". The program locked up and various other issues. I am running Vista which should not ...

Re: Can't install Vista
FYI: I also built a BX2 with the q6600. I had no trouble with Vista32 and no extra driver is needed for the DVD drive. I used the Pioneer SATA DVD burner connected to the primary SATA controller as the install drive. I also installed using another brand SATA DVD drive. I have had combonations of a C...

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
Addonics.com has a whole product line of cards. If you are looking for eSATA, the 144 is not for you. As far as JBOD, I do not know much about it other than what the specs say. Just make sure you call tech support for the latest firmware when you get your card. They seem to ship with very old stuff ...

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
FYI: I installed a Addonics ADST114 PCI SATA card (with it's latest firmware) to replace the Marvell functionality for my burners. It's working out so far.
Intel support asked me to try a different MFG drive (i'm using Pioneer), so I will try a lite-on when it arrives.

Re: Need help w/ 975XBX2 (something I'm missing I guess).
A long shot, but I had problems with lock ups (when in the BIOS setup) untill someone told me to disable the USB legacy support in the BIOS. Are you sing a USB keyboard? Try a PS2 keyboard. If your desperate I guess you would be willing to try anything.. ](*,) .. I've seen that message but only when...

I am emailing with someone at Intel about my problem with those ports. Maybe you can too? Maybe They will assign someone to fix it?

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
Did you fill out a tech support request at Intel? Maybe if enough people say something, they might fix it. I'll bet the chip is OK, it just needs firmware work. For now, I bought the Addonics ADST114 PCI SATA Controller Card. Addonics told me it will work for my burners. I'll let you know how it goe...

Re: D975XBX2 Marvell Controller Problem
As you can see from this forum, the Marvell is a problem. I'm confused too. I hope you will also contact Intel about it. I hope they will fix it. Did you disconnect the burners? First, if you can.... disable the Marvel is the BIOS by setting the secondary SATA controller to disable. Does your system...

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
So, since I wanted to RAID the Intel Matrix 4 SATA ports and use the Marvell 4 for burners,,,, do you think an add-on card for more SATA ports would work? I want to burn 4 to 6 DVD's at the same time. I built this machine for that purpose,,,. Or maybe I should put my burners on USB like the advise a...

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
I'm sure you looked at the Marvell thread. Iam going to give it a week or so.... If Intel fixes it I will keep my board else I will RMA, take the 15% hit and get something that works. I'm in basically the same boat you are except you may be stuck with your board.
Asus, Gigabyte?

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
Enabling the secondary SATA controller in the BIOS does turn on thre 3 blue and 1 red SATA port. Insofaras the Marvell post, I think we are stuck with it. I spoke to Intel about my issue. They said a recent BIOS upgrade fixed my problem using Plextor drives. They did not test Pioneer. I hope they wi...

Re: D975XBX2 Marvell Controller Problem
If you are using the black ICH7R ports, and don't care to use the broken dangerous non-WHQL Marvell crap ports, simply disable that piece of trash ASIC in the BIOS. There is an option to disable the secondary SATA controller there. I messed-up up... I had the burner plugged into the Intel controlle...

Re: getting E SATA to work on d975xbx2
I would like to know if you get anywhere with the e-sata port. I bought this mobo thinking I would have SATA's working. I think this falls under the Marvell controller saga, see my post there. Good Luck! Bob Edit: I'm not sure, but did you get your drive to work on the e-sata? Are you just trying to...

Re: D975XBX2 Marvell Controller Problem
I am have a slightly different problem with the Marvell Controller. My intention was to RAID with the Intel controller while putting my DVD burners on the Marvell controller. Well, the Pioneer DVD-212D burners on the Marvell controller can only be used as readers! I updated firmware to 2777, and all...
