Re: Which is the best among the three AMD 5200+ processors?

Hmm. Well, that's good, on a nice light Brisbane box. I can see why it's so popular.

But now I'm stuck trying to compare apples and oranges: twice the L2 cache, [-o< vs a higher clock speed. I've often wondered about that. For multitasking (not gaming), what do you think? :-k

Re: ASUS, AMD, and the F3T-AP055C

6 Months Later. . . . No one ever replied to this, but I actually did buy it. Well, really it was my girlfriend who bought it for herself, and I was acting as an advisor for her. She didn't buy it in August—I kept on researching things for another month. So now I just wanted to add this update. The...

Re: Phenom worth it?

No problem in staying with AMD, though. Yes, there are a lot of alligators around. And a whole lot of people are abandoning AMD on the premise that one buyer doesn't make a difference—or they just don't care—but if AMD actually went down, Intel would double its newly monopolistic prices the next day...

Re: Which is the best among the three AMD 5200+ processors?

I'm researching the very same question. Would you guys who chose (C) maybe explain in more detail your choice over (B) ? I'm leary that 512 can be as useful as 1024 in a level-2 cache when the system is used for heavy multitasking. Maybe it can be, but I hate to see that L2 cut in half. My real choi...

The AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core TL60

I'm asking for opinions here. Has anybody got this? I'm considering it for a notebook computer, and I'd like some input from someone who's been there. (I don't want Intel; Intel screwed me way back when, in their marketing of the Celeron 1.7 with its 128 KB L2 cache—and I never go back to be cheated...

Re: Suggestions for a laptop

I'm also in the computer notebook market for a girlfriend. So far, my research suggests that $2,000 is high. Given the short (arguably 3 year) lifespan of a laptop, you might be better off not to buy too extravagantly. Something to consider, anyway, depending on her budget. You might be able to get ...

Re: question about notebook ram

I agree with Dan, but I'd like to suggest a different way of looking at things. How much is the money worth to you? If you are watching your budget, then you want cost-efficiency. But if the money is no big deal, then I would go for the RAM. Here's why: The difference between "too much RAM"...

ASUS, AMD, and the F3T-AP055C

I'm likely to buy this very soon, unless I hear warnings against the model or against ASUS reliability. Everything looks good on paper. I'm in Canada, where the price is CDN $ 1288. It comes with 1 GB of RAM but I'll upgrade that to 2 GB. At the moment the computer is more of a Cadillac than I need,...
