Re: ACER Predator X34 Curved G-Sync Gaming Display Review

Lately when I look for a new product with certain specifications after looking what reviewers say, the second thing I do is type in google stuff like: product X error product X problems product X users opinion product X hangs and then more specific issues about parts like display, keyboard, bleeding...

Re: Skylake Z170 Build - Feedback and Final words.

Simple comment: PS is too big, can be smaller if you're not going to SLI. (and save some money). Seasonic makes great PSU as well, and their silent mode ramps up to a higher power %. Advanced comment: If you're not eager to wait for new round of HBM (<1 year) then you'll probably end up SLI-ing. Wh...

Re: Intel NUC Kit NUC5i7RYH Review

Actually I had no problems installing windows 8.1 as UEFI in the NUC and both the isntaller drive and the SM951 appeared as uefi drives at first boot. Installation takes 5-7 minutes and boot is almost instantaneous. I've received the second unit of the NUC5i7RYH as I RMAed the fist one. Same problem...

Re: Intel NUC Kit NUC5i7RYH Review

I tried two different ocx vertex 2 PN: OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G. Both showed all ok in crystal disk info. I've been using them for years in RAID0 with no issue, the day before were working fine as "games" drive in my X58 (not in raid). I used a samsung 830 pro from my laptom, same results. I've h...

Re: Intel NUC Kit NUC5i7RYH Review

I'm quite desperated with this guy. I bought one on monday and installed windows 8.1 pro. After some hours of use it started stuttering, disk usage 100% with no reason and no reaction from system. Curiously background activities (like music on youtube) worked during those hangs (lasts from 20 to 40 ...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

Thanks for the feedback and the numbers look great. Do you prefer the Microsoft drivers over Intel RST? Not actually, but was a test to see if could install windows with X58 in RAID mode without F6 drivers. I can, in both RAID and AHCI modes. I used acronis backup to move two partitions from two &q...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

Hey! I wanted to confirm that 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD works on X58 Rampage II Extreme BIOS 2101 with no mods. BIOS is set in RAID mode btw (direct AHCI must be tested yet). Setup of PCIE: Auto. The motherboard will work in 16-8-8 mode. Very important! Motherboard won't boot if the disk is...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

Very interesting. I thought I left a comment in the 951 review cause when I read it it clearly shown that 951 is firm-temp-aware! You did the passive and active cooling tests showing some throttling when 80º (79) were hit. This is actually very interesting because I haven't seen comments in any site...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

I'm sure thats why the plextor began to use passive cooling, and the intel too. Its the era of passive coolers for hard drives, like the old raptors. That coul be a reason for the inconsistencies? A temperature aware firmware that slows down disk if hits a certain temperature? I already had the idea...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

You're lucky enough to work around a new platform UEFI compatible G1.Sniper A88X. I would then recommend you to look for samsungs m2 disks instead. 951 is in both AHCI or NVMe flavours. I don't know about AMD BIOSes versioning, but with enough modern UEFI version you should clearly go for NVMe! I wi...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

I bought one given I can return the hdd if it doesn't boot on my motherboard. I think in the "long" run this may be a better disk than the m6e which gives slightly more performance than a sata 3 disk. If it boots i'll check those speed jagging! But since my only has sata 2 connectors this ...

Re: HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSDs in RAID 0 – Hitting 2.8GB/

The only people I've seen that requires that kind of speed are video dj that work with linear composing of UHD video in several streams. More "sensitive" applications go for enterprise grade solutions. The problem is they use several pci-e cards (in, out, coder) and having two 8x slots use...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

It would be also interesting to compare IO and 4k read/write against samsung 850 pro, those 1,1GB/s transfer may look great, but thats not all that matters, specially in a system drive. Yup agreed, but Samsung 850 has not supplied me with an 850 for the test bench here in St. Louis. A shot across t...

Re: 480GB HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe SSD Review

Nice review, since I've seen positively answers to the use of the m6e on old platforms, detected as AHCI drive, could you test this drive in your X58 platform? (you've got a i7-920 there :D) Just to test if BIOS detects the drive and windows 7 can be installed upon it with its default driver. I'm lo...

Re: ASUS Rampage V Extreme Motherboard Review

I would like to say two things. 1. I love to see the i7-920 with the X58 platform in the review. 2. I would like to see it OCed at 3,5 (basic OC for the 920, almost done in 1 click), and love to see it at ~4,0. A true comparing of a nowadays so expensive combo with an almost 6 y.o. platform is fanta...

Re: G.SKILL Phoenix Blade 480GB PCIe SSD Review

Nice review. First, I would like to make a suggestion for another drives review test: Windows Seach speed. For a folder with 100k to 400k files (lets say), with subfolders, not indexed. Time to find files for a given match. This would be a "real scenario" test. Can be recorded with a high-...

- QoS? That? Well no IP, Port or packet disctinction tables? - VLAN? - several configurable SSID? 3,2Gbps wifi, that must have a 10Gb port right? Re: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked ACX Cooling Video Card

@Major_A: IMHO its all because of consoles. Nothing else. Now we will ramp up again for 2-3 years, maybe less, to catch up consoles given all are actually HTPC with a great case :finga: . GDDR5 of PS4 looks like a shot, but DDR4 its around the corner. Time will tell. I hate being stuck with console-...

2,5 Things. First and a half: y. The Seagate Desktop HDD 4TB runs cooler, uses less power and costs 58% less. When it comes to pricing the WD Black 4TB can be found for $290.63 shipped on Amazon and the Seagate Desktop HDD 4TB is $183.57 shipped on Amazon. This breaks down to $0.047 per TB on the Se...
