Another great innovation by RAMBUS, but as has been said, when will we
see it in our PC's.
Sony is using XDR in the PS3 and uses RDRAM in the PS2, but when will
it grace our humble desktops?

DDR2 timings

Hi all, I recently got my rig up and running, it's an Asus P5AD2-E mobo with a 550 prescott and 1gb OCZ5400EB DDR2. My question is about the memory timings... what are your best recorded timings on a DDR2 system? I have managed to get mine down to 3-2-2-1 at 2.2v (the board's max) while the SPD timi...

I't good to see AMD getting on the DDR2 truck, but DDR2 667 is going to
be very old news by that time, we will most likely be seeing low latency
800mhz and 1ghz parts by then. It hasn't taken very long to get 667's down
to cas3, so maybe cas2 is possible by then.

that's only on paper, has anyone seen a marked improvement?
when i upgraded to 5.6 i didn't see any difference in games or benches.
will try the 5.7's asap and see if anything changes.

yeah, we most likely to see XDR2 in the PS4 or some other future console.
doubt intel will take the bait again. not that RDRAM was all that bad though,
it was a top performer, the problem was the cost.

It was rumored that AMD will be using DDR2 in their socket M2 systems,
any updates on that yet?

Yeah, Fugger got his to 7.2, but it only booted into BIOS, he could bench
well over 6ghz though.

that superPi is amazing! is there anywhere that we can see the comparison
of intel CPU speed and superPi scores? I have a feeling that it's not a linear
progression related to clock speed.

it's 100% stable at those voltages and speeds. as long as i keep my temps below 60C. the highest load i've put the system under was when it was still running at 3.99ghz on 1.4250vCore. I was compiling my HL2 mod and playing HL2 at the same time, and all that happened was that my CPU temperature reac...

but what about the 925x/xe chipsets? i don't suppose anyone has had the gusto to try
put their brand new dualcore CPU in an "incompatible" motherboard.

That's very cool,
but why run the memory at 5-5-5 latencies?

I would also like to know if it worked at lower Vcore voltage?
I push my 550 to 4.2 on 1.4250v, but haven't ventured further
yet because i'm still on air.

I am all for the Intel Dualcores... here in SA i can get a 2.8ghz for the same price as a 3.4 single core. although im sure i could get a 3.2 for the same price from the US. has anyone actually assembled one of these dualcore systems and tried them out? I am totally interested, all i need to upgrade...

That's very strange indeed, Tom's got the Pentium D up to 4 gig on water cooling with 20x200. they did say however that the system is not very stable above 3.8 but i have just realised how they bugged the scores, they used terrible timings on their RAM! at 667 they had timings of 5.0-5-5-10, which m...

sorry, should have been more specific, what does that system score on superPi and Aquamark and possibly even 3dMark 01? will the memory speed make a difference on a 4gig system with ddr667 and ddr1174? and how much? the bandwidth is phenomenal at 1174, but what applications will actually benefit fro...

so when is the official release dat for the 955X? coz im sure the tier 1 manufacturers will give much more leeway when it comes to overclocking. Asus currently has the best overclocking 925XE mobo, and you can set the fsb way over 294mhz. how do the benches look at 4gig and mem at 1174? any scores w...

i found the review i was looking for, it's on anandtech and they managed to clock the 4200EB modules to 821mhz with timings of 4-2-3-8. because of the fact that the modules would more than likely be destroyed with the removal of teh heatsinks, they were not removed, but they are most likely micron. ...

i see you're using Corsair mem with 3-2-2-8 timings, how does this compare to the OCZ 5400EB with 4-2-2-8 timings on the 955X? i know the now old OCZ 4200EB could be clocked to 800+mhz on a 925XE system. has anyone tried the OCZ yet? would be very interesting to see a side-by-side comparison of the ...
