Re: Gigabyte X58A-UD9 Motherboard Picture
There's a nice color photo of the board here - http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/latest- ... post284764. Even though the post was edited yesterday, the photo of the board has been there since last week.

Re: Processor issue with Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 ???
Well I went with the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 last week. The system is up and running without issue. I haven't done any overclocks yet, its fast enough as is.
Thanks.
Thanks.

So what can you tell me about the DX58SO motherboard???sygnus21 wrote:Thanks Apoptosis,
BTW, what can you tell me about the DX58SO? It's the board I was originally set to get, and it's $90 bucks cheaper.
Thanks

Re: Processor issue with Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 ???
Thanks Apoptosis, I actually called Gigabyte's tech support before posting here and they said the same thing, but... I just wanted to hear from other users. I was planning to get the board from Micro Center since they're local to me, but when I asked if they would flash the BIOS should there be a pr...

Processor issue with Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 ???
Anyone have an issue the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 and the i7 930 processor booting up with the the F1 BIOS the board is shipping with? I've heard some stories of people purchasing the board with certain processors (notably the i7 980x) only to find out the board won't post unless they update the BIOS. B...

Re: BadAx2 memory settings for corsair xms2
i just looked at where the BIOS had auto-configured the original two sticks and it was 5.0-5-5-18 voltage of 1.84 how did it come up with that i wonder and if i configure it manually as 4-4-4-12 should i use the same voltage ?? thanks Not surprised - Again, the BIOS does not set the Voltage and tim...

Re: BadAx2 memory settings for corsair xms2
The other thing you can do is just run the new sticks you bought and see if they're stable. Also make sure you have the correct voltages settings for the memory. If you have the XMS2 Twinpack "TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX" the voltage on that memory is 2.1 volts, and you'll have to go into the BIO...

Re: PC8500 Memory Timings
I trust that you took the RAM down a divider to the 667Mhz one, and tried increasing the CPU core voltage? Dan Actually, I didn't...the whole point of buying the PC8500 was so I could run the divider at 800Mhz. I don't want to bottleneck the RAM. As far as upping the CPU voltage, I was under the im...

Re: PC8500 Memory Timings
Well I just tried to overclock to 3.2gigs...system wouldn't post - had to remove & reinstall CMOS battery and reset CPU & Memory settings to get system to post. Tried it at 3.1...same results, same remedy :( So now I'm running at 3gig (334*9 = 3006), memory timings at 5-5-5-15. Seems my B3 w...

Re: PC8500 Memory Timings
I have a B3 stepping. I just tested 2.9gig @ 4-4-4-12 timings with 3DMark06 and got a score of 12051, whereas 3gig gave me a score of 12113. So I lost a whole 62 points. Basically all I get out of that is that there really isn't any difference between to the two. I'm going to go back to 3+ gigs thou...

Re: PC8500 Memory Timings
The second post was the info I was after, thanks. Have you tried starting at 2.8Ghz, and upping the FSB MHz a little at a time to see at what speed your RAM fails at with the tighter timings? As my post stated, I was at 2.8gig then jumped to 3gig; However I did notice that I can run at the low end ...

Re: PC8500 Memory Timings
Guess I should include this info: BIOS Settings: FSB = 334, Frequency Reference = 266, Memory Frequency = 800 BIOS Settings: FSB = 334*9 = 3006 FSB/Mem Ratio = 266/800/2 = 0.666 = 2/3 Memory clock = 334 fsb/0.666 memory freq = 502 (502*2 = 1004) DDR2 Equivalent = 502*2 = 1002Mhz (I’m running DDR2 P...

Re: PC8500 Memory Timings
What MHz was the RAM being overclocked by (or what divider was it at)? If you have a good chip and board, you might be able to get the PC8500@4-4-4-12 if you lower the RAM divider and push the CPU further. Dan "I have 2gig of Corsair Dominator PC8500 memory coupled with a Q6600 (2.4gig) on an ...

PC8500 Memory Timings
I have 2gig of Corsair Dominator PC8500 memory coupled with a Q6600 (2.4gig) on an Intel 975XBX2 MB. Vista Ultimate 32bit is the OS. The RAM is running at 800MHz. I was running the CPU @ 2.8gig, and had my memory timings at 4-4-4-12. I decided to run the CPU @ 3.06gig but found that Vista won’t boot...

What are good temps on a B3 Core 2 Quard?
Has anyone figured out what are good temps on a B3 Core 2 Quard? I’ve searched high and low on what are considered to be normal temps on a B3 stepping Core 2 Quard processor and all I’ve seen is “mines run at 30-40 Celsius. The problem is 1- they usually have after market CPU coolers installed, 2- I...
