running 2 X2's would be quad sli since its 4 gpus. the intel boards that can run SLI would be the LGA771 Skulltrail, then for i7 X58's. there are selected models from manufactures sent to NV for certification for SLI. gigabyte i know has X58-UD4P and above it support SLI, i think only the X58-extrem...

even though the drivers support the card, your switching models. meaning the drivers will have to be installed for the new card....

no the only 45nm Quads are as of right now the Q9550,Q9450,Q9300,QX9650,QX9770

dont expect to see any current models out now to go to the 45nm process.

hmm a bios voltage tweak to hit a 1ghz gpu clock that would be nice!

right they do but XFX may have modded the bios to apply more voltage the gpu to get the higher clocks. all you can do is try anything on top of what the card is set to is icing on the cake.

it will do the job for a basic laptop, websurfing and what not. depending on the graphics card in the laptop you might be able to game decently. i like mine but the 1.66ghz is called T1300.

now that EVGA has the newer 8800GTS 640's out will we see a comparsion of the 2 from you?

yea the E8500 and E8400 are the best deal for the dual's. consider that running 4.2-4.5ghz for 24/7 use is gonna be the norm for them. while it looks like quads will be in the 4-4.2ghz range.

my only question for intel is why no EE dual cores.

well with all this talk about cpu life span how about this for you. i still have intel p3 700E oced to 933 with 1.8 still running to this day and i bought the cpu when they came out. there is nothing out right now about C2D's that shows what oced 24/7 will effect its life at all. i dought you will k...

all of intels C2D's that are out now are 64bit by EM64T instructions. you wont have any trouble with xp-64/vista-64running on that cpu.

the only thing now is the $100 cpu point.
