You may check and see if there is a P4 power connector on the motherboard, if it's not connected, everything may spin up but you won't see anything. Does it make any beeps when it powers on? If it beeps repeatedly, you may have problems or incompatibility with your memory. Otherwise you may have a b...

If you have another drive that you can temporarily copy your OS to, Seagate's Disk Wizard (Windows edition) works very well. I copied my OS from one drive to a RAID array and it worked and booted perfectly.

When I worked at a PC repair shop, we would get in flakey machines with Norton or Mcaffe installed and they would run like crap. So I would uninstall their antivirus and install AVG Free. AVG would always find a bunch of trojans that the other scanners would miss. Personally, I run AVG free at home ...

Unless space or connections are an issue, you may look into RAID. If you raided 2 160's or something like that, you still get your large chunk of space plus you gain some performance. However you still run into the issue if 1 drive dies, you loose the entire array. So if you have something important...

There are a couple things to try, different/updated drivers or move the card to a different slot. A quick way to tell if it's the card or not would be to put the sound card in a different system and run it for a while. Doesn't quite sound as bad a problem I had. I once had a Sound Blaster EX on whic...

In answer to Audiophile and Bio-Hazard: 8 of the drives are in RAID 0 arrays of 2 drives each over a Highpoint controller card. Plus 2 onboard standard IDE and one onboard serial. All together it's about 2 terabytes of space. Most of the drive space goes to uncompressed dvd rips and video captures. ...

I'm a big fan of Enermax. I have a 550 Watt PS in my rig now. It's powering a Athlon 64 3200+, Leadtek 6800GT video card, 2 120mm fans, 2 90mm fans, and 11 hard drives (6 in removable drive bays with individual fans). I've had nothing but good luck with Enermax. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b29...
