SpeedFan / D975XBX / +2.5 V
I just installed SpeedFan and I was checking out everything. One thing that caught me by surprise was the reading on the 2.5V - it says its 1.47V! I've read some threads where it discusses the proper range for these readings and this definitely does not fall within that range. The readings are as su...

Re: 64bit ... 32 bit ... vista/xp, mind exploding!
This was a lot of good info. I appreciate all the insight and advice. For now, I'm going to stay with XP. I feel like I can probably squeeze out a little extra performance from XP and get by just fine. I also read the other day that SP3 for XP should be out in the spring and it is reported to cause ...

Re: Need help selecting HS for D975XBX
Alas, I have returned. Sorry for coming onto the forums then disappearing, but it's been a busy week. I have a midsized ATX case. It's very generic. In fact, the computer itself is the Systemax VX2 "Beast". Hey, they call it the beast, not me. I definitely got ripped off when I got it from...

64bit ... 32 bit ... vista/xp, mind exploding!
Hi all Don't worry, my mind isn't going to really explode - I'm just hoping you can help me wrap my mind around some of this. I am running Win XP Pro 32bit on a D975xbx MoBo, with an E6700 Core 2. I want to upgrade to Vista (to utilize more than 3 gigs memory - I've got 6 that I'm itching to use). I...

Re: D975XBX / Fan Speed / Memory Upgrade
I think asking all those questions about HS in the memory forum makes me a bad person. I've corrected myself and made a more thorough post in the HS forum. Thanks for your help over here ... http://forums.legitreviews.com/about12709.html#p88929 is where I'm now looking for help. Case closed!

Need help selecting HS for D975XBX
Hi there I'm looking to upgrade the factory cheap heatsink on my D975XBX. It's made by Foxconn and looks like this ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.aspx?CurImage=35-150-056-04.jpg&Image=35-150-056-01.jpg%2c35-150-056-02.jpg%2c35-150-056-03.jpg%2c35-150-056-04.jpg%2c35-150-056-05.jpg&...

Re: D975XBX / Fan Speed / Memory Upgrade
Update ... Anyone who reads this thread is surely going to have a great laugh at my cost on this one ... Just like you said ... it didn't make sense for a memory upgrade to cause my heatsink fan to go crazy. So I started to look around inside and tinker a bit ... When I put the fan back on, I put it...

Re: D975XBX / Fan Speed / Memory Upgrade
Hi there Thanks for the speedy reply! Well, a couple things. Forgive me here (I might have made a mistake ...), I wonder if this could be an issue. When I went to install the new memory, I noticed the top of the fins on the heatsink had a fair amount of dust buildup. I popped off the fan and manuall...

Re: D975XBX / Fan Speed / Memory Upgrade
By the way, I have done zero overclocking to the board, the memory, the processor ... everything is default.
