Re: Can I use PCI-E 2.0?
Ok another question, this mainly out of curiosity. I've been reading a lot about the video card I ordered, the 8800 GT 512mb, and keep hearing mid-end. I asked myself, with all of my current setup including the 8800, what am I considered? I never really understood how they rate you(you know, just th...

Re: Can I use PCI-E 2.0?
Excellent, the next obvious question would be what are the drawbacks? I how much of a performance loss would I suffer? More or less.

Can I use PCI-E 2.0?
I have an eVGA nForce 680I SLI, I'm looking to upgrade my video card, from the 8600 GTS to the either an 8800 GT or one of the 9 series cards, now, I can only find a card with PCI-E 2.0, if I buy this card, will it work with my board?

Re: Bad processor?
I do realize that the explanation I gave was too vague. Turns out that the problem was the Wolfdale E8400 Core 2 Duo processor will not run on the EVGA Nvidia 680i SLI Motherboard without a bios update. I ran the update with my old chip, put the new Core 2 dup, booted right up... I do apologize for ...

Re: Looking into a new CPU Suggestions?
The reason that TF2 ran well on your computer probably isn't the CPU but rather the GPU. Laptops, in general, don't have GPUs that are as powerful as a desktop GPU in the same price category. The amount of RAM in each system will make quite a difference as well. As for CPUs, the E8400 would be a gr...

Looking into a new CPU Suggestions?
Alright, here is the deal, I'm gonna' be getting a new processor here pretty soon, and am wondering what to get. Right now I have a P4 3.2 GHZ with HT-Tech, single core of course. I'm looking at getting a Core 2 E8400, since it is the fastest I can get clocked at 3.0 GHZ without having to spend $900...

Re: My system specs, what do you think?
Wow, that is all I can say right now. If you can see my specs in my signature, you know what I was playing the Crysis demo on. I was pleasantly surprised, I at first I allowed to game to auto-detect the best settings, and obviously it chose low for everything. "Absurd!" I exclaimed, surely...

Re: Quite the delima, could use some help
Well, DMB2000uk, I tried all of what you said, except messing with the PSU, it is just about brand new. Anyway, I got to looking on the a forum dedicated to 680i problems, and came across a PDF of the MB's manual online, the board in the box only comes with a small sheet of instructions ( go figure ...

Quite the delima, could use some help {SOLVED}
Ok, here is the thing, I just baught an nVidia 680i motherboard. As I was hooking everything in, I was surprized to find that it has an 8-pin 12v connector, I looked through my power supplies different connections, and it only has a 4-pin. Ok not too hard to solve, I baught a 4-pin to 8-pin 12v adap...

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.--- just hard for me?
The hardest part of the game to me was the respawn of bandits. I would spend 1 hour and 15 Quick Loads dispatching a group of bandits only to find them in the same spot when I came back. Finally I just downloaded a trainer and cheated through half the game. When you QA test a game one of the criter...

Resetting a password in Windows 2k
Hello, I've got a friend who can't remember his password for anything, this is on a Windows 2000 system, and I was wondering, instead of formatting the whole shebang, is there a way I can just reset the password to the windows login?

Welcome! now start folding :) :drinkers: Yes, the folding, I'm still not quiet clear on what the heck that is. I mean I read a bit about it, 'protein folding' I believe, was the fault of proteins going nuts for whatever reason and causing certain ailments. I understand that part, but what does proc...

Ohh how I know what you mean, let me give you a little story, a story about a girl named Douchy. In the beginning it was me and my good buddy, we went out, had fun, drank beers, just had a good 'ol time. As things progressed, we both found dates, and little did I know it, the girl he was dating slow...
