I believe nTune was locking up my PC shortly after booting up, CPU usage would skyrocket then everything would lock up and I'd have to hard boot to restart things.
So I uninstalled it, and so far everything as been good (no crashes).
Anyone else know of that problem?
Thx for any info.

Re: Vista or keep using XP Home Edition?
Thanks very much for replying. K, I'll stick with XP then, I don't play any cutting edge stuff. Mostly Anarchy Online sometimes and alot of Secondlife (no matter what machine you have its hard there).
Thanks again

Used the NVIDIA- Tune System for the 1st time
I did the Coarse Tune (20 min) with these results:
FSB (CPU Bus) original: 200Mhz current: 218Mhz +9% change
AGP/PCI-E Bus original: 2500Mhz current: 2850Mhz +14% change
so that tweaked my system some and will help performance?
Thx for any insight

Re: Results from Speed Test, is this good or bad?
Thanks so much for your replies, I feel alot better now. I think I have the package just below their fastest service but don't remember what its called. Anyhow, everything (games etc) seemed to work fine with it, just wanted to check with folks that know about such things

Vista or keep using XP Home Edition?
Should I switch to some form of Vista or just keep using my XP Home Edition? I game some, and finally gutted my eMachines T5010 and stuck in better (I hope) components: see my signature below. Guess I'm trying to ask would some form of Vista be more compatible with my set up now in terms of game pla...

What do setting mean? GeForce 8600 GT
I read lots of reviews before I ordered the card (XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX) and went by them when ordering (It's due to arrive via UPS today), but I still dont know what it means when I read something like this: "my pc's a amd live HP64+2 dual core 4400+ 2048mb 2 gigs,400gb 7200 rpm sata harddriv...

Re: Using GeForce 6150 but upgrading to 8600GT is ok?
Thanks everyone for your advice and info. Yep I'm a girl and most (99.999%) of the tech talk zooms over my head. One guy said something about it being a "discrete card", guess that doesnt mean very quiet tho? I guess a 9600 would be even more expensive than the 8800 series so that'll be a ...

Using GeForce 6150 but upgrading to 8600GT is ok?
My current card is the one that came with the Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard, the GeForce 6150. I know thats pretty minimal. So after looking at a bunch of reviews I ordered the XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX, 256MB, DDR3. Can't afford an 8800 series :( Anyhow I mostly play SecondLife and Anarchy Online. Secondl...

Re: New to Dual Core and some questions
Thanks for the help everyone. I did find one thing that helped...I read somewhere (I forget where) to set the monitors' vertical refresh rate to at least 85Mhz, which I did. That seemed to stabilize alot of the flicker problems I had and also made logging off alot fast, just hit the log out key and ...

New to Dual Core and some questions
I recently modified my eMachines T5010 desktop with the Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard, AMD Athlon 64x2 4400+ dual core processors at 2.3 GHZ. I just have 1GB of RAM DDR2-SDRAM running at 333Mhz I think it is, tho I have ordered 3GB of DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) which should arrive via FexEx on Tuesday. Right n...
