Re: Desk Mods

Any more updates to this? This seems like a great project Not much has changed really. For the most part its all finished. Been running with the 500 watt Antec Neo still and it been flawless sofar. I did add a external TV tuner that plugs into one of the old analog connectors on the monitor so I co...

Re: ECS X58B-A Black Edition Motherboard Review

Maybe its just me but I've been unable to download any drivers from thier support site. I've been working on one of their older boards but haven't had any luck getting drivers from them. Tried both IE7 and Firefox 3.

Re: Catastrophic failure ***Pics Added***

Guessing from the location my 1st guess is to check your stand offs. if you had a stand off where one shouldn't have been it may have shorted out the motherboard. Near the spot you have circled there is a common place where Micro and standard ATX overlap and be misplaced.

Re: multi-display dilema 2x 8800GTs or TH2Go?

1. Besides the extra juice that the 2nd 8800GT will demand from my Power supply, is a 2 video card set up possible and performant for gaming. I have heard that the second card is only used as an output and really a waste of money. Is that true? Will it work in both span mode as well as for separate...

Re: Tagan A+ Curbic Mid Tower Case Review

Just curious, but does Tagan and CoolerMaster share parts and \ or designs? I ask because this case is an alomst complete copy of the 330 series.

Re: Desk Mods

One thing I don't think I went over was that I changed my plans and went ahead with the Matrox TripleHead2Go. It makes the computer see the 3 LCDs as 1 big screen. So multi monitor support isn't needed by software. I made the switch now that they support 5040x1050. I dont have any other flight sims ...

Re: Desk Mods

For a second there I thought my broswer cut off half the image on that SupCom screen shot until I realized how WIDE the picture has to be! That's beutiful! Have you tried any flight simulators? The only flight sim I have is X-Plane 9. But I haven't been able to get it working @ 5040x1050 yet. I sus...

Re: Desk Mods

Under load im still pulling less then 300 watts. Granted my UPS isn't a perfect way to check but its close enough. I've never had any issues to date with the current PSU. However, I still plan on getting a better one. If anything Im more worried about amps then wattage. This Antec is a multirail uni...

Re: ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 Graphics Card Preview

Nice! I've been less then happy about NVIDIA's path as of late and it makes me all warm n fuzzy to see the matket heading in a better direction. It was pretty clear that left alone with no serious competition NVIDIA will try to take advantage of the consumer. Let the Price Wars begin!

Re: Thermaltake Armor+ MX Midtower ATX Computer Case

I know I maybe the odd type but I really prefer full tower cases. I am looking at using the full tower version of this case in my next build and I think many of the issues that were seen here are improved in it. The top rear vent is actually ment for top level fans from PSUs. There is a 120\140mm fa...

Re: NVIDIA Announces Enthusiast System Architecture

I've been looking into this a bit more as of late just to see where its at since the posting. Product support is still pretty slim but there are a few nice items. For example, SilverStone not only made a case with the ESA circut built in but also offers a bay device (known as the "Commander&quo...

Re: PSU for 9800GTX SLI

700 watts is a bit overkill for those in SLI. 9800 GTX Power Requirements Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amp Amps.) Minimum 550 Watt for SLI mode system. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 30 Amp...

lol...

I work with a number of forms and draw up new ones aswell as do things like job cost summaries and contracts. As it is now I flip through tabs all the time. I've gotten pretty good at doing it with just the keyboard short cut but this will be much better. Mostly I work with Excel and MS Word.

Re: Desk Mods

why not hardmount the moniters to the desk instead? I second that, it would give you extra storage. Thanks for the comments sofar guys. I went with the riser type LCD stand for a few reasons. I needed the overhead space to set things on. What you don't see in the 1st pic in a whole ton of crap that...

Desk Mods

Well my work space needs some serious improvement so I've been working on something to help it out. I'll start off by showing what I currently have. I cleaned off the desk so i could get a better look at it to draw it up. So you don't get to see the piles and piles of junk all over. http://www.iowat...

Re: I run on a UPS. Do you?

I can't speak for all UPSs but mine does far more then keep my machine running when the power goes out. Mine also covers over and under voltages. Acts kinda like a line conditioner. To be honest thats one of the main reasons I got it.
