Hi,

It depends on how you would like to use the computer for. And, then, It depends on how much you budget for the upgrade.

For web surfing/word processing. P4 probably will be fine.

Thanks sparky! In that case, I guess I will have no choice but to buy a Gigabyte MB and a Q6600 (later) and build two systems. I hate to waste computer components. I have built several AMD computers. This is my first Intel system. I have to be more careful about compatibility from now on. phsieh2005

Thanks for the answers!

Intel Support also mentioned that E6850 is not compatible with D975XBX2. It looks like I will have to either buy another MB or CPU.

Do you think that by putting E6850 on D975XBX2 and power up (only few minutes) will damage either the MB or CPU (or both)?
