Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 GF100 DX11 Video Card Review

So its really a high powered GPGPU shoehorned into the video card role? (Its pretty obvious that its going to kick ass in CUDA based applications.) Nvidia pushed the limits of the engineering required to manufacture this GPU...And they paid for it in heat, power consumption, and thus, noise. This ca...

Re: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 (R680) Pictured in CrossFire

Do you folks know if one can use the Radeon HD 3870 X2 for GPGPU roles?
(Like the AMD FireStream 9170 which is powered by the same GPU).

The one thing I long for is the completion of the open 3D driver for Nvidia cards. (See the Nouveau project). This way, all Nvidia users will have 3D support out of the box. Which means its one less step in the install process. (Currently, proprietary Nvidia drivers aren't included for idealogical a...

Well, I moved from Win2k to Linux, but I did recently try Vista Ultimate on my cousin's supped up system. (So I got to see the "full Vista experience" in all its glory). I was left with the impression of: "Is that it? You actually paid for that?" What's most unusual is that Aero ...

just another PhysX card scenario There's a big difference here. The PhysX card actually does something when you write an application that is optimised for it. So the benefits are there, when the developer can take advantage of it. IF its a "quick and dirty" implementation like in GRAW on ...

So I guess I'll either wait for "Yonah" or the price of A64 X2s to come down with a lower model (I hear of 2Ghz one called A64 X2 4000+ may be coming later in the year).

Maybe a low-cost Opteron mobo that supports dual-core?

I just signed up to the forums as I have a quick question regarding the Pentium-D 820 overclocking.

Based on your experience, do you think its possible to get 3.5Ghz (250Mhz QDR or 1Ghz FSB) on aircooling with relative ease?

(Say if I was using one of those Thermalright or Zalman cooling solutions)
