Re: How To Install Windows 7 and Media Center on a HTPC

We’ll cover the initial set up, configuration of Windows Media Center, setting up Media Browser for DVD/Blu-ray/HD-DVD playback, and talk about the Sleep modes.
I couldn't find any further mention of sleep modes in your guide, or am I going blind?

Re: Asus M3A78-T Motherboard Review

Thanks for the review, but did you get the chance to test media playback? Also I noticed that the ATI 3450 card you used for the hybrid testing had an HDMI port on it, could you tell me who makes this particular card? Cheers.

Nice job. I'm still planning to voltmod my 6600GT but im afraid Although most VGA fan headers are 2 pin molex, they will fit into the 3 pin socket of a Zalman fanmate. As long as you line up the right pins (black to black and red to red) the housing for the 3 pin socket is made of plastic means the...

On AMD systems I would suggest that the command rate should be set to 1T, if your motherboard, RAM & CPU support it.

I can understand your frustation, marketing tends to focus on one thing and one thing only, POWER! Too often this is done by some dubious mathematics. So when you get recommendations from VGA manufacturers they take into consideration the very fuzzy definitions used by PSU manufacturers. Really what...

At their stock speeds, the fans are too intrusive (i.e. their noise signature). I volt-modded the fan and now it's silent. However it did reveal a design fault. Most system cases operate with an exhaust fan & PSU fan expelling air out of the case. The combined effect creates negative pressure in...

They are only officially supported by the likes of Tyan mobos. No desktop mobo maker will officially support them, but they still work So apart from their intended market, is there any architectural difference. I did notice that the Opteron's default voltage is a little lower than the equivalent At...

How have you managed to deal with the heatsink retention system. Doesn't the top of the PentiumM + CT-479 sit higher than a normal P4 in the socket, therefore making it difficult to fit any P4 socket 478 heatsink?

Athlon4400 vs. Opteron175

I'm fearing that this might reveal just what a newby I am, but what exactly is the difference between Athlon 64 4400+ and an Opteron 175? Price wise they are similar, they are both dual-core processors and the speed and cache sizes are identical.

I would recommend the Scythe Ninja along with a 120mm. I've currently got this setup on my 3200 which is overclocked by 20%, but my system is extremely quiet as it has a 120mm Nexus fan running at 5V. It doesn't even break a sweat. The other good thing about this cooler is that most of the weight is...

New(ish) guy

Hello, although I joined some time ago, I neglected to post in here. I found this forum after reading a LRreview (Asus CT-479 adaptor). I'm an Intel fanboy (for stability), but for gaming and overclocking it's got to be AMD. My most memorable computer gaming revelation was when I purchased a 3dfx Vo...

...the p180. Absolutely the hardest case I've worked with. I found it overly heavy and no quieter than my slightly modded lian li midtower. Lian-Li is aluminium, so of course the Antec will be overly heavy. From a silencing perspective, aluminium panels tend to ring, whereas steel does not. The pan...
