Re: Wireless adapter advice
sounds like you have done it before, what about running Bridge mode? Is the router capable or needs new firmware? Wasn't available in the default WRT54GL firmware last time I checked, but that was a couple years ago. DD-WRT can do it, I use Tomato myself. One thing to note is that with the 54mbps W...

Re: Wireless adapter advice
some wireless routers have a "client mode" setting that can be used to set the router as a client to receive the wireless signal. I think thats what he is suggesting, however you would need to plug the pc you were going to put the wireless adapter in to it. If it doesnt have a client mode...

Re: Wireless adapter advice
Have you considered getting a second WRT54GL (or other router), and setting it up as a wireless client?
This works especially well if you plugging several desktops into the client router.

13m/640k down/up, with no throttling or bandwidth caps. ISP does not pass on any RIAA/MPAA notices to customers. Speeds up to 100mbit are available in my area, but they come with monthly caps.Sttm wrote:Hmm what do you have now?

Re: Downloading Speed Being Cut!
I'm looking at moving in the near future, and I'm finding it telling that I'm looking at ISP options in areas I'm considering, and taking those options into consideration. Sadly, almost anywhere I move to outside of East Asia or the Nordic countries is going to be a step down from what I currently h...

Completely agreed - I don't even notice a difference between RAM with simple heat spreaders and bare RAM, for the most part.

Avast was my free recommendation for years, but I've since jumped ship for MS Security Essentials.
What particular features are you looking for that aren't available is MSSE or AVG?

So did anyone stick with this? I thought about starting it a couple of times, but never did :finga: Dan I'm working on it, got slowed down by being super busy with a couple jobs for a period of time. Just finished week 2, did 15/15/12/12/25ish pushups. Pullups are significantly more difficult, I'm ...

Another lazy solution that works well in some circumstances is just to remote desktop to the second computer.
I've got dual 24" monitors at work, so I just leave my home computer desktop open on the second monitor.

Re: WHY! does *ANYONE* use Norton ANYthing?!?!?!?
Me, I have the Norton Corp. on my work PC and AVG free on my home PC. The Norton Corp., sorry I forgot, now its called Endpoint Solutions, only affected my boot up time as it scans certain files on boot. I only really notice it on older machines. Once the machine is up and running its fine. People ...

This looks interesting, I'm going to try it out.
And I'm going to stick pullups into the alternating days with the same routine, should be tougher to get up to 100 of those.

Re: Windows 7 to release in 2010
Ever since the release of Vista "To this end, our plan is to deliver Windows 7 approximately 3 years after the January 2007 general availability launch date of Windows Vista." has been the official line. I seriously doubt we'll see any change until either mid-2009, or until the betas start...

Re: Antec boned me on my rebate....
I don't necessarily avoid items with rebates, but I never factor the value of the rebate into the price. If there happens to be a rebate, I'll fill it out and send it in, and if it happens to work, I think of it as free bonus money. Probably the only situation in my life where I get free bonus money...

Should work fine in XP, or Vista, 64-bit or otherwise, via DOSBox.

Re: Windows 7 exclusively 64 bit
Vista was never slated to be only 32-bit. Last I heard, Windows Server 2008 was the last server OS with a 32-bit version, while Windows 7 is getting both a 32-bit and a 64-bit version. This article doesn't really clear anything up, since it isn't specific about server OS's or desktop OS's. Regardles...
