Re: Asus Geforce 9600GT ? Good buy ?
Hi there, Thanks for your input, I appreciate it alot. :) Don't wanna wait for my card for get its RMA done, so I'll buy an upgrade instead ;) The PC store kinda likes me alot - I just buy new instead of waiting to have stuff back from RMA ;) Going for some rebates, anything else would be unfair :D ...

Asus Geforce 9600GT ? Good buy ?
Hi, My old HD2600XT Tornado 512MB has passed away, and I'm going to buy a replacement. I've considered the Asus Geforce 9600GT 512mb, which is within my budget of 1.000DKK. (~$170) - computer hardware is kinda expensive here :( I'm not going for anything top level, just something leveled - maybe a b...

Thanks, Alathald
Well before I get to overclocking I think it's first of all time to get hold of a GFX that doesn't crash all the time :D

Hi,
Thanks everyone.
Actually I'm new at boarding, so please excuse me for not having used the EDIT-function
I like GRID because of it's drifting part. I love drifting, and I'm a pro drifter here in Denmark :D
Thanks everyone.

Hello everyone!
All that personal stuff would be kinda boring, so in short terms: Troels - I live in Denmark - 22 years old (March 1986). - How did you find the forums? Using my good friend Google - What system are you running? ASUS mobo P5N-EM HDMI 2 gigs of Kingston PC2-5300 ram Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16G CPU M...

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
The board admin (who accidentally was a fan of the PSU story) has closed the board, as he didn't fell that it lead anywhere ;) He submitted a post stating that my new PSU was crappy FOR SURE, and my mem modules was fucked and ran at too high a clock / too stressed a timing. :) Anyways, I'm glad to f...

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
Hi!
Kinda good news. The HD4800 which is a much more power consumpting card worked like a charm, 1680*1050, Ultra Quality.
Seems like the HD2600XT is done for it.
Thanks for your help and sober tone in here! It was a pleasure being helped by you guys!

Hi,
Just plugged in my buddys HD4800 - if that works like a charm, the PSU should be good, and the my HD2600 can be rated bad ;)

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
Cancelled my user at the other site, they kept suggesting that everything ELSE than the GFX was defective. Now I apprarently bought a crappy PSU (they assumed that the 20amps was max, which aint the fact this time!) - and my mem modules can't cope with the rated timings and clocks. So now I need ano...

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
The ram is running at rated timings and clocks, so I'm not gonna change that. :) New mobo today New PSU today (520watt 20amps at 12v, should be enough!) New XP install, all new drivers. Memtest OK now! Game hangs, screen goes black, and game returns! Although it "pauses" too often to be pl...

If you had bothered reading through the posts, the heat problem has been fixed, although the computer is still unstable

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
Hah, wait, a dude in there just pointed out that PC2-5200 modules only are made for 266 MHz and not 333 MHz. Not true :D - PC2-5200 modules are 667 MHz rated (333 MHz DDR) - so that's not the prob. Gotta admit, I didn't run the Memtest86 test. I did, and it shows that at 62%, it fails, with whatever...

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
Please, be nice to them ;) Somehow it sounds right when my 12v rail only can supply 180 watts PEAK, and... Well, probably about 100 watts continuously. http://forums.sapphiretech.com/showthread.php?p=134258#post134258 Sorry if I've forgotten the link earlier on... ;) A bit tired i guess :D I'm in an...

Re: MSI HD2600XT pci-e running very hot!
Hi Dan,
I appreciate your input.
On another board, I'm currently getting flamed for doubting their idea of the PSU being too inefficient.
I've posted a link in here to that board earlier, please check it out as I want your opinion about their answers.
Thanks in advance,
Troels
