Maybe you sould start with the punch cards, It's kind-a cool the transition form punch cards to SSD drives. Almost forgot you sould mention the storage mechanism of the first computer ABC( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atanasoff%E2%80%93Berry_Computer ) - It has a weird simi-DRAM simi-Cilinder storage.
