Re: os win 7

Hi. Many thanks for all the generous responses. Is it the media centre that is causing the improved sound and graphics performance? i was reading that win 7 has wasapi which connects your media player directly to your soundcard bypassing layers of windows software thereby improving the sound quality...

So are you saying if i were to play a dvd file the audio and video would be identical to using an actual dvd player, if so would it be like using a budget, quality or true audiophile type dvd player as there is a quality difference between the three. Re: Problem installing XP

Yes, i have a gigabyte 785 chipset mobo and phenom II combo. I have noticed in the bios it was running the ram at the wrong speed so I have had to go in a few times and correct this. Maybe this is a problem with the board, and there could be a bios update to fix it. Ma be applicable to your situatio...

Re: Problem installing XP

You could try taking it up fractions of a volt, as long as it is done for short peroids it should be okay. It may be that the mobo does not support the speed you are after (something of a long shot) you would either have to overclock or underclock the ram, and either undervolt or overvolt, that is t...

Re: Thoughts about my new Netbook

Whereabouts are you going to be selling it, ebay? I'll keep my eyes open. Notebooks are good, not good for extreme gaming. Anyway the pc market is dominated by home theatre and internet. Not that many people use pcs for extreme gaming, i'm more of a nintendo wii man myself. Thanks for listening. John.

Re: Problem installing XP

I heard about this problem before. Apparently the ram likes to run at 2.2 volts but the mobo runs it at a lower voltage by default, you can crank it up in the bios but i don't think it will go up high enough. Haven't done it myself so can't be 100% sure. Best answer would be to raise the bios voltag...

Check youtube, so many ways to unlock cores. I saw a guy turn a dual core phenom II 550 into a 4 core in just a few minutes.

Re: AGP Aperture Size?

Just set it at 256, then go up everytime you switch on your pc, if you notice a difference then stick with it. The sytem is allocating ram for video usgage

which may deny it to the system, system performance may go down as a result.
