Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 power cycling randomly
Looks like it was a bad 24 pin power supply connector. I seem to be able to repeat the problem just by bumping or wiggling the MB connector. Now I just have to wait for the new PS to get here...or take the connector apart and fix it..

Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 power cycling randomly
I will try memtest this weekend..I tried a few things last night, reflashed the BIOS, reseated all the memory, and went back to default settings on everything. The only thing I noticed weird was the "power button setting" in the BIOS...normally that's set to the 4 second delay, but it was ...

Re: D975XBX2, Raid, Velociraptors failing
There's a known problem with the velociraptors in RAID0 and the Intel ICH9R and 10R chipsets. I ran this a while myself on a 9R, had a lot of problems, upgraded motherboards and ran into the exact same problem. I moved the drives to a Acrea raid controller and they worked perfectly. From what I have...

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 power cycling randomly
I've been having a problem with this motherboard lately, and I'm not sure where to start on the troubleshooting. Basically the system will boot and run fine for days at time. Then in the middle of use, it will shutdown completely. No errors, no BSOD, no event log..Shuts down like I'd just pulled the...

Re: Intel D945GCLF2
I rebuilt my WHS box using one of these boards after my old celeron motherboard failed. It's been running for 3 months straight now without a hitch. Only drawback is the lack of SATA ports..4 ports would have made the board perfect.

Re: Small network hardware question
If they are just using the server for file shares and backup, you might consider a Windows Home Server type solution. HP has the business version of their home server out now for fairly cheap. ($700 or so for a 2TB server) I've heard of a lot of small businesses using a similar setup with huge succe...

Re: New Kingston SSD drives...G1 or G2
Thanks for the quick response! The picture on Newegg was my only clue, since I couldn't find anything definate anywhere..Kingston should at least advertise the "34nm" thing somewhere on their webpage! I've been reading articles for days trying to decide on an SSD. Finally picked the Intel ...

New Kingston SSD drives...G1 or G2
Does anyone have any information on the new versions of the Kingston SSDNow "M" series drives? (new model numbers SNM225-S2 vice the old SNM125-S2) I know they're rebranded Intel drives, but I can't find anything that says for sure if they're the G2 drives or not. The only evidence I have ...
