I can't make it this year.... due to the fact that they had troubles securing a venue, and announcing the date so late has made plane tickets out of my financial reach. Some of the other [Q3] guys local to Texas are going, so hopefully you'll see some of them there.

I have seen the light...

After being tired of watching 'lesser' AMD-based systems walk circles around my Intel systems, I broke down and built an AMD system. I won an Abit AX8 mobo at QuakeCon '05, so I needed a CPU, GPU, and psu. Everything else - case, sound card, DVD-RW drive, and most importantly, the RAM! - came over w...

I've got my SATA Raptor as my main drive and my 120GB PATA drive on its own IDE channel for storage only (no programs). I've even Ghosted from the SATA to the PATA when making a backup image and didn't have any problems. All the systems I have built in the past 6 months have been SATA. Definitely th...

I have the CNPS7000a-Cu and I love it. It keeps the CPU cool at a low fan speed even under a full gaming load. It's very heavy but I've brought this PC to QuakeCon two years in a row now and not had a problem. Whenever I build my next system, definitely a Zalman CPU cooler. Don't know if that helps,...

I saw Nate's workshop at QuakeCon '05 and was very impressed. I'm really considering building my own with this chassis come next year to replace my current laptop (which is almost two years old and is starting to develop minor but annoying problems). I may just hang on another year since I have unti...

I attended at QuakeCon and it absolutely opened my eyes to custom laptop building. This would be a wonderful start.

Man, I wish I knew that when ATi first released the Mobility drivers in the last Catalyst release. The 9600 wasn't listed so I didn't bother. Oh well, it's all good.

I tried it at 1600 x 1200 last night and whle I had to turn the eye candy down a bit it ran great. Thank you ATi!

I played Wolf with it tonight and it seemed to keep a steady 76 FPS at 1280 x 1024 with high detail. I will try 1600 x 1200 and see if I can run that and keep a steady framerate. I will also reinstall the BF2 demo and see what I get now.

At last! I just installed it to my Alienware Area51m '766' chassis with the 9600 Mobility Pro and the installation went flawlessly. I rebooted and confirmed that the latest drivers are installed. Can't wait to test them out while gaming later tonight!
