Re: Dec 2009 Contest - Design Your Own HIS 5870 Video Card Art!

HD5770---4.jpg HD5770---5.jpg I don't have any pictures of it in my actual computer yet. Now I've got a nice shiny new graphics card I have to upgrade the rest of my rig. So it's going to be sitting in the box for a little while longer until I figure out the rest of my parts. I might hav...

Re: Dec 2009 Contest - Design Your Own HIS 5870 Video Card Art!

I'll put some pics up for you guys when I get it. Not sure when that'll be though, could be a few weeks depending on how they ship the card.
It won't be as interesting as the 5870 obviously, seeing as that has the winners design on it, but I think it'll be nice to do so anyway.

:prayer: WOW, awesome :supz: Thanks so much, really looking forward to having a nice new 5770 in my system. Damn, now I need to upgrade the rest of it, haha  I would love to see my design on the actual card like the 5870 but I sure can't complain  Congrats to von0m8oo for winning the g...

I think the point is that the graphics are still completely unsurpassed in terms of quality and GPU requirements.
Kind of sad really. Seriously, where are the better looking games? Perhaps we'll have to wait for Rage or Crysis 2.

http://i45.tinypic.com/aob0wl.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/2vvsuna.jpg Best viewed at (not quite) full size here . This HD 5870 is no ordinary video card. This was THE original video card, discovered years ago by (then) ATI scientists within a hidden chamber on earth. Said to be created by extraterre...

Re: NVIDIA GF100 versus GeForce GTX 285 Video Card in Far Cry 2

This is certainly encouraging, but as kenc51 mentioned we can't really take this too much as gospel considering the benchmark used and the fact it wasn't final specs. Then again, I can't imagine Nvidia would want to come out with a dud given they are already so far behind AMD at the moment. At the v...

LOL, this seemed like a spoof despite it being completely serious. A bit too serious and over-the-top.

Re: Upgrading graphics - So easy, a monkey can do it!

Those monkeys know more about computers than most of the people I know.
Somehow I don't think this is going to inspire someone who doesn't know what they're doing to give it a try though.
They'll just call in their family/friend techy guy to do it for them instead. Thanks AMD.

Re: Thermal Compounds

Surely that cant of worked i mean zinc oxide cream and vaseline at the GPU temps you normally get you would see it melting at some point and then as the compound melts away the temps will rocket up! Quite possibly, but the computer was going for months afterwards. It was a POS that kept crashing an...

Re: Thermal Compounds

I pulled apart my brothers GPU to clean it up and forgot I had no thermal compound......obviously I had to improvise. I used some kind of cream which had Zinc Oxide in it and vaseline. It was pretty damn dodgy, but it seemed to work alright. I don't recall what the temps were but I'm prett...

Re: New Oppo BluRay player plays MKVs!

That sounds like a pretty nice setup Skippman. But what codec are you talking about that you think I am talking about? The media server support certainly makes it even more tempting. I wonder if the PS3 Media Server would work with it. I know it has rudimentary Xbox support, so why not something els...

Re: Kingston SSDNow vs HDD Comparison Video

From what I understand it's really not a good idea to buy an SSD without TRIM support, and certainly only one with an Intel or Indilinx chip.
The others are generally old and have very poor performance, especially considering the extra cost of an SSD over an HDD.

Re: New Oppo BluRay player plays MKVs!

That's definitely a sweet player. I bought the DV-981HD DVD player from Oppo for my parents place a few years back and that performs amazingly well, so I imagine this player is 10x as awesome. That Anchor Bay chip is supposedly better than the Faroudja that's in the DV-981HD and that is already extr...

What a fantastic competition, and a brilliant way to get people interested and active in the site. It usually takes quite a bit to get me to sign-up with a community, (I do hang around on the outskirts often though) but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to join in on this one. I've got a, more...
