Yes it is messy which is why I use the Artic Clean to clean it up. Works amazing. I just apply it with my finger and smooten it out and clean my finger off with 90% alchohol. If I have rubber gloves around then it works even better. and the point is my temps were 15 degrees cooler (more then 20 over...

I totally agree with your statement. I don't care how non conductive something is at the right voltage electricity is going to flow through it. However I used Artic Clean to remove all signs of my crappy AC5 (there was no silver left in it it was just grease) so that couldn't have caused the problem...

First off I designed the shim according to the same specs as Rhino. When it came off the lathe it was exactly 1 mm thick. After lapping it was .91 mm thick. I already did those things and it was not cracked or scratched. even with the stock thermal pads it was still locking up and not being stable. ...

Thats what I figured. I e-mailed Asus to see if they have any other cards released for this laptop. I got it back up and running with out artifacts. But at stock clocks the card is unstable. I have to underclock, run it with powermizer set to battery mode and not run anything 3d intesive games. The ...

Hey guys, got a bit of a problem. I made a alumium shim on the CNC mill at school. Got it to exactly 1 mm x 14mm square and I then lapped it and cleaned it and cleaned the heat sink and GPU and I also sanded down the ridges on the heat sink. I thne applied thermal compound and put it all back togeth...

So I though maybe theres smaller versions you can get cause my has the RAM on chip with the GPU as where the one shown has the memory seperate from the chip. Laptop Video Cards

Ok so whats the scoop with upgradibility with laptop video cards? I have a Asus Z71v with a 6600 Go and to my knowledge I can just take it out and put in a different one. But in reading other threads there seems to be different sizes and form factors. Like I was reading that the 6800 Go won't fit in...

This problem wasn't here with my M6Bne laptop with its dual mode Intel b/g card. The laptop is 4 feet away from Wireless Router so I don't think anything is interfereing with the signal. I have to study right now but once my midterms are over I can take pics and try different combinations.

Installing Network Card Adapter

Hi I have a Asus Z71v and the Tri mode Intel Pro wireless mini pci card. Now I am getting bad signal reception and I am wondering if that is because the attenae wires are backwards. How do I know which wire goes to whihc? I beleive I have black to Aux and white to main right now. Is that correct? Do...

What did you use to remove the ridges off the heatsink?
And do you know where I could get a lapping kit?

Thats actually a really good idea, ill just get a copper shim made up and lap both sides of it and apply a thin layer of AC5 to it. Awesome.

If you could get me the thickness of yours that would be great. I'll just get the machine shop at school to make me up one.

Thanks :D
