Re: Xigmatek XAF Series 140mm Fan Round-Up

From a moral standpoint, I would not suggest purchasing products from a company who purposely advertises one thing, but completely fails to deliver on that promise. On the other hand, these fans were not that bad. The airflow to noise ratio was good and the mounting system was better than some other...

Re: Noctua Focus Flow 120mm NF-F12 PWM Fan Review

Like I said in the review, you could do really well with a themed build. And I'm always happy to see colored blades on a fan, even more so if they have LED on & off switches like the NZXT FN-200 I reviewed awhile back. Still, I do wish that Noctua would offer a White or Black version of their fa...

Re: Case Labs MAGNUM M8 Case Review

You're mistaken actually.

The M10, MH10, T10, & TH10 all come with 10 PCI slots on the motherboard tray.

They also have the TX10 & STH10 in the works which will have 10 PCIe slots and be able to house the SR-2 or SR-3 motherboards, as well as the longest XL-ATX motherboards.

don't forget about the SAS ports and SRT that was removed as well! Well, the plethora of SATA ports was from the SAS function. But yes, SRT was left out, which was also disappointing since it was such a unique and valuable feature. On the other hand, $500 CPU & $400 board... well dropping anoth...

Re: Antec Performance One P280 Midtower Case Review

Antec did a great job of bringing their case line back up to date with the 1100 & P280 designs, but I can't also help but feel that the designs are woefully uninspired compared to the old Performance One cases. With that said, "woefully uninspired" doesn't make it a bad product. It jus...

Re: Intel Core i7-3960X Sandy Bridge-E Processor Review

I think it really depends what you are going to be using it for. If you are going to run a single GPU on it for gaming, it's not worth the extra money over something like the 2700k. If you plan on running two or more GPU's in SLI/CrossFireX, it becomes a more reasonable choice. But if you will be d...

Foxconn is doing it now. Intel used to, but the outsourced to Foxconn back in the X58 days.

Re: Intel Core i7-3960X Sandy Bridge-E Processor Review

I'd call the product a miss for the same reason Bulldozer was. The product itself is far too late to the game to really matter. More so when nothing has really improved in regards to IPC, or Multi-threaded performance. It's by no means a bad product but it's a far cry from the Value that Nehalem off...

Re: Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler Review

Lapping the base usually helps a good bit; but you need to lap the CPU too. And that becomes time consuming and annoying sometimes.

It can also cause unlapped coolers to perform poorly at times.

Re: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 CL9 Memory Kit Review

I have no idea why a 20MB/s RAM kit would be considered enthusiast grade? The price is nice for 8GB but that merely makes it budget, not enthusiast. Enthusiast would be 2133Mhz and above with OC potential and possibly tight timing (even though timing doesn't play much role with the sandybridge plat...

Because SSE4.1 & 4a have no unison between one another. AMD & Intel could not originally agree on the SSE4 Spec, so they both did it in their own way.

Re: EVGA X79 Classified E779 Motherboard Pictured At GeForce

Unless you're really turning your Socket 2011 system into a server or workstation running multiple VM's; 8GB is going to suffice for most users (which means you can recycle your old Socket 1366 kit and grab an extra 2GB stick.)

Re: AMD FX-8150 Processor Review - Bulldozer Arrives

V7 was made before AMD's Bulldozer parts were out; so it doesn't have SSE 4.2 added in yet.

Also, apparently a registry fix is going to come out on Windows to aid bulldozer's low IPC. Though, I'm skeptical about that.

Re: AMD FX-8150 Processor Review - Bulldozer Arrives

F@H isn't using anything more than SSE2 had F@H been able to make use of SSE4 This is the problem with all software. They have to write it so older CPUs can work. The only software that tries to push the boundaries is a dediacted AAA PC game. Most other apps, not so much. AAA PC Games don't either....

Re: AMD FX-8150 Processor Review - Bulldozer Arrives

The problem is, despite AMD's marketing; it's not an 8 Core part. It's a 4 Core part with a hardware level of essentially "Hyperthreading."

Check about two posts up where I explained the reasoning behind this statement.

Re: AMD FX-8150 Processor Review - Bulldozer Arrives

FX-8120 is $220 right now. If you disable Core's 1-3-5-7 in the BIOS (leaving 0-2-4-6 enabled) you can get up to a 20% increase in IPC, Realistically, it's more like 15% increase in IPC. AMD's biggest flaw with these chips is marketing them as 8 Core processors, when they're realistically 4 Core pa...

On Newegg the FX-8120 is $220 right now. So the same price as the Core i5 2500K.

If you're overclocking then the difference won't be anything.

The Storm Sniper has 15mm more space at the top of it compared to the HAF 912/Storm Enforcer/Silencio 550. Personally, I love the H100 for it's ability to cool in a quiet fashion. Gentle Typhoon AP-14's on this radiator give you great performance (4.4Ghz on an x6 is 100% possible, depending on ambie...
