Cool 'n' Quiet
I noticed the fans that came with my mobo plug directly into the PS. The processor fan plugs into the mobo as I am used to. If the fans are plugged into the PS connections, does that mean they are on full speed all the time and therefore are not affected by the Cool 'n' Quiet program? The only fan t...

Re: New Setup Questions
Good news, no issues installing the OS on the new sata HD using the sata optical drive! Thx folks! I bought a Centurion 590 made by Cooler Master. I did notice the space between the mobo tray and the side panel. Once I get done installing everything on it today, I'll tackle the cable management and ...

Re: New Setup Questions
hnzw_rui, Thanks for the input. I'll look into the slipstreaming. I'll probabaly go out tomorrow and get the sata optical drives anyhow. My case is black and my old drives are white. Is there any use to having the 3.5" floppy drives on PCs anymore? If not, I'll skip adding. I was checking out s...

New Setup Questions
After posting issues with my mobo earlier, I went out and purchased a new rig to put together. I was going to get a mobo that used my current components (AMD 939 socket, DDR memory, IDE drives, etc) but Fry's didn't have any mobos that supported the DDR memory or the 939 socket anymore. Therefore, I...

Re: MB Died???!!!!
Well, I'm assuming it's the mobo. I've disconnected everything from the computer execept the HD. Removed all the ram (no beeping signal when I turned on the PS). Put one stick of ram in. Cleared the CMOS & checked the battery. I even tried jumping the power connections incase the switch was bad....

Re: MB Died???!!!!
Nothing at all. When the PC first went down yesterday, I noticed the fans would give a slight spin when I disconnected the power cord from the PS but nothing when I initially attached the power cord or when I hit the power button on the front of the PC. I didn't mess with it after that because I was...

Re: MB Died???!!!!
Ok. I'll give that a try. I did reset the CMOS already but did not remove the battery. I'll take it out and test it with my multimeter to see if it's still charged.

MB Died???!!!!
I was hoping someone could help me. I was using my PC yesterday when it complete turned off. I wasn't able to restart the PC. I opened the case and my Abit KN8 MB had the red LED lit showing power but it will not turn on when I hit the power button. I bought another power supply and that did not fix...

Ok, I'm still working on making sure all drivers and updates are in place. I am having an issue that is causing me grief. I have a compaq USB keyboard. 90% of the time when I restart the system, the keyboard isn't recognized and I can't type in my password. I have found two work arounds but both are...

How to determine AMD processor type?
I'm trying to find out how to determine the type (for lack of a better word) of AMD 64 3500+ processor I have. I found a post asking the difference between Winchester vs Venice but haven't been able to find out how you actually determine which one your processor is. I need this info to help get driv...

I've got one final question regarding this little project. (No really! :) ) I've noticed that Windows XP take 2-3 times longer to load now vs the old MB and chip. I have practically twice the chip power and memory now. I am currently defragging my HD and have run spybot to get rid of any spyware, et...
