i have the wrt54gs linksys router (with speedbooster). I have a wireless card (a/b/g) in the laptop. I have the 10/100/1000 mbps network card in the desktop. My modem is motorola surfboard sb4100 (cable modem). my question is, can i get more than the 54 mbps on the laptop ? i mean the router says it...

ok

so guys it appears my computer has conection of 54mbps. but i also have the linksys router with speedbooster. how could i activate the speedbooster to increase my connection speed ?

wireless speed

i can only get 54 mbps out of my wireless speed. when i play counterstrike source, it sometimes drops below that 54 and i get major lag. i thought the wireless connection was supposed to be 100 mbps ? no?

well

i got linksys router with peedbooster... like 7 days old. internet works, but the message is there. i dont know why.
and oh yeah my desktop doesnt ge tthat message, only wireless laptop

getting network cable unplugged message

im basically getting that sort of message and a red X over my the connection icon. All the cables are plugged.. My internet seems to work, but games wont play. does anyone knoe anything i can do to fix this?

i tihnk i found the problem. there was a piece of paper that said (remove before use) still attatched to the cpu. the reason why i didnt remove it is because it was folded 3 times and i didnt see the writing when i installed it. thats why it was getting so hot, it wasnt tuching the paste but rather ...

1) my cpu's top was very slick like film from a camera almost.
2) if i was to put it thermal paste it would go onto the slick black film correct?
3) what kind of thermal paste should i apply. can you guys reccomend something?
