Re: Warner Brothers to Back Blu-Ray Exclusively

based on what they said a few weeks ago, I thought they might go HD-DVD only.........but
at least they made a CHOICE (for now anyway #-o )
The whole 2 format/exclusive player deal was hurting both types, and most consumers, not wanting to guess wrong on the winner, bought neither.

Re: XP SP3

Running SP3 on another machine right now, install was slow (several checking/backup steps) but automatic, took 2 reboots at the end before the existing network was seen.
seems as fast as SP 2 was on that machine before (maybe a little faster) and completely stable (so far  )

Re: Japanese Tow Truck???

i wonder if those can tow a hummer H1 or an Excursion :) It looks like the tow dolly part has brakes, so the weight of the towed vehicle is less important. even if it could only pull a stall/wrecked car off to the shoulder/next exit, it would clear up the freeway more quickly than waiting for a ful...

Re: CarveWright Computer Controlled Wood Machine?

I haven't played with one of these, but have used other CNC machines.
I know they sell these at sears so they may have "demo days"
Could be fun (and productive) if you had $2-3000 to spend (base maching is near $2k, and almost everything else is an accessory (extra $$$$)

Re: The Biggest Truck Tailpipe I Have Ever Seen

That's weird (the front only thing) alot of state require a rear plate, with front optional here in washington you must have front a rear plates clearly visible, but only the rear gets month and year registration tags (both used to get a month tag) they now require new plates every ten years (they s...

Re: Maps of War

I'm puzzled why they started Judaism after Hinduism as Abraham came from the family lineage of Noah and Shem. :-k you think you're confused...? it's pretty obvious that nobody can change a lot of mindsets with 5, 10, 15 years of war no matter how big the army, when some of the beliefs/arguments are...

Excellent link, Stev!
follow the link at the end to the main maps of war site and watch the "History of Religon" map. then you'll begin to understand the ongoing problems in the middle east.

And what's the bungie cord on the trailer hitch do? Looks like its holding the bumper on! Or maybe holding the pipe up. Dan Or maybe actting as a large rubber band like a windup toy. Not sure if Apoptosis chopped it for the redneck protection, but the truck doesn't appear to have a license p...

Re: NFL Network Only Games are.....

Yup! There's a battle going on between ComCast ( maybe other cable providers too) And the NFL has gone to court to TRY and force ComCAST to carry NFL Network as a regular channel (and earn $0.80 per month per subscriber even if the don't watch football. CC is instead making NFL network a seperate pa...

Re: Snowy Signal on 2,4, 5, 7 on Cable TV

Snowy/static-y low channels are usually "ingress" i.e. interference/electrical noise entering the cable system (not nessesarily in your own house) in your house it can be a bad cable, damaged splitter, multiple grounds (creates a ground loop/antenna effect) best way to test without a signa...

Re: .NET framework question

If I'm not mistaken, you can remove 1.1 and have no effect on 2.0 3.0 is in Vista. Don't know if you can download it for XP or not. ??? Actually 1.1 and 2.0 are different. MS did push developers to update all apps to work with7 2.0, and most did before the 2.0 release, but you still occasionally (r...

What little I could find on LivePlug was it was an Powerline Ethernet adapter based on the HomePlug standard, as distributed by Orange Telecom of france/netherlands, UK etc. It appears the manufacturer has changed names or left the business, without a forwarding address. I think I was primarily inte...

Re: upconverting dvd players

some higher end HDTV's include an unconvert mode as part of the signal processor, but most rely on your other components (DVD, cable or satellite box, tivo, etc) to pre-process the signal for the best output. remember that upcoverting is just "massaging" the signal, filling in info/line dou...

Re: CD-RW Doesn't Read Blank CDs

I believe that model is CD-R/RW only, is it possible you bought CD+R/RW disks? Even if you have the correct type of disks, some drives are very picky as to the brand of disks, so try another major)brand. cdfreaks.com or CDRinfo.com probably have a review and can tell you which brands worked well wit...
