It's nice, but probably impractical for majority of the population. First of all, I need to get that "other" room to keep the PC in, second with how stable Windows is now, I wouldn't trust it enough to keep my computer in the other room and run to it when I would need a reboot. I can see why they sa...

NewEgg does have good customer service, and are willing to cover the costs of shipping stuff back to them. However, both me and my friends got defective products from NewEgg that needed to be returned on quite a few occasions.

I know how much you guys love getting stuff like Bargain Buddy and 180Search getting installed on your computer for no good reason and the thrill of hunting them down with Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D later on after your computer becomes slower than 166MHz Pentium that you left in the attic a few years b...

That explains why my CDRW was set to CSEL in the first place. I pulled it out of my HP Pavilion when I was putting together the desktop I use now.

Yep, CSEL was the problem. I thought that if at least one of them is set to CSEL it should work, but apprently not. Now they're master and slave and both seem to be recognized. Thanks.

Added DVDRW, now neither optical drive works

I'm putting a DVD-RW drive that I had lying around into my desktop, and I don't want to remove the CD-RW it uses now because that drive is amazing (it reads discs that are scratched beyond recognition like they're brand new). However, in order to have them both in my PC I needed a longer IDE cable. ...

PSU makes a huge difference

A while ago I was running dual monitors on my computer (the 5-year old desktop one). Since I have a good old Ti4400 (man, those things seem prehistoric now), I ran one LCD and one CRT monitor from it (not sure if it could run two LCDs if one of them has SVGA plug, as I only got 1 LCD anyway). At fir...

Yeah, I found the CNN article: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/internet/12/29/student.homepage.reut/?section=cnn_tech The only reason it worked for him is because the media gave it so much attention that the advertisers decided it was worth it since so many people would see it. Proof to this claim: his...

Doesn't Microsoft's MSDN site not have tutorials? & they are free ;) Not all schools are part of the MSDN Academic Aliance program. My university happens to participate in it, and it is GREAT! I don't think they actually have any tutorials though, just the software. At least that's the wa...

Nice. The fact that oil doesn't conduct electricity is common knowledge, but since its heat capacity is a lot lower than that of water, I always thought it wouldn't be effective at cooling the computer. This might prove to be a pretty economical and quiet cooling solution, however I'd prefer the liq...
