Re: opinions
If you find my questions tiresome then don't read my posts. Otherwise let me learn what I can by asking questions on a hardware review forum page. I get to upgrade my computer about once every two years so I know very little about what is available. If I could I would just buy an Intel i7 940 extrem...

Re: The Thubans
in reality, the 1055T clocks just as well as the 1100T, just the 1100T is a lot easier, as is the 1090 If I was going to get another AMD system it'd be the 95w 1055T ALL AMD Phenom II chips can clock the same on any decent board (unless the board has crap FSB limits) and are always limited by tempe...

Re: Product Improvement - Case Fans
In order to be patentable it needs to be a significant enough change so as to make your fans clearly different. My uncle is a patent or mental preperties attorney and the anology he gave me was this. There are several hundred patents for shopping cart wheels. Most of them pertain to the material the...

Re: dual channel
I see that new egg has a corsair value select kit 2x2gig for $59 and they also have a 2x1 gig XMS 2 for $54 which matches what I have now. Which is better to have 4 X 1 gig of XMS 2 or to have 2X2 gig of value select? the price difference is very small. LAstly can off sized DIMMs rum in dual channel...

Re: dilema
The only reason I was considering another Dual core is that the socket AM3 has the DDR3 memory controller and I am not sure if any of the games I play will actually use the other two cores in a quad core.

Re: dilema
I know I am wearing this out but now there is a new question. I cannot find reviews for these on Legit Reviews and I don't read other peoples so what do you all think of these...Intel core I3 560 at $150, AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE is $89.00 !! X2 565 BE $119.00 I know the X4 965 BE is a great processo...

Re: dual channel
I figured the drop was from speed. Considering the drop in 3dmark does that not also mean that there would be zero benefit from addingt he extra 2 gig?? My hunch is yes zero benefit.

Re: dilema
Major and Skier both seemed to say I would be OK with 2 GIG. This MB actually has 4 slots for ram but with XP I cannot go over the 4 gig. Which brings me back to my original question do I upgrade Ram and OS now and wait for CPU etc. Or do I go for the CPU now and do Ram and OS later finishing up wit...

Re: dual channel
I ran 3Dmark 06 and got a 10128 with my current setup. I slotted the 2 gig stick making my total 4 gig on one channel and the score dropped to 9897. Not a large drop but it does support the less in Dual channel is better than more in single. It just now occured to me , I doubled the total ram and ha...

Re: dilema
Thanks fort he input everyone. I think I will get the Phenom II 965 black. At $150 it seems to be a really good CPU. on 3dmark 06 my FPS on the CPU test was 0.75 and 1.15 so I think that is a fair indicator that my CPU is my current bottleneck.

Re: dual channel
I know the ideal would be to buy 2 more Gig that matches what I have now but that would cost $60. In several months when I upgrade to a new MB and new Ram that $60 would be wasted. If I could get by adding the one stick of 2 gig 5300 for a while that would save me the $60. If I have 2 sticks of PC2 ...

Re: AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition Processor Review
Cool I get it. I was mostly hoping to see the results with the GTS8800 since that is the vid card I have. Its not often that items in my setup match whats being reviewed.
