Heh, might as well join. I doubt I'll win since I just won last month's one, but you never know. 8)

I think the most fun with this contests, for me anyway, is to participate. If you win then great, it's just fun to sign up for free stuff.

Thanks again everyone! I do believe this is the second longest contest thread here, btw. And most of those pages are entries!

I'm extremely jealous of myself, too, btw! :P

Well, maybe not quite as much anymore, but in the hey day of A ( :P ) and for a while since, it's been the most sought after. People who are still interested in Socket A would pay money for it. I personally know of one person who got, with a few modifications, an overclock at 2.75 ghz on a Barton wi...

Have you memtested and stuff? Could be that, or the cpu could be going.

If you decide to get a new mobo, you could sell that one on ebay, provided you tell your problems, of course. :P

As far as NF2/Socket A boards go, that one is the most sought after.

It's not as obsolete as you think! I myself have an FX5500, and it does just fine on mid to low settings for many games. Unfortunately, if you really want to upgrade the mobo/processor, you'll have to discard the video card from this build. The hard drive will do for a while, although I would get at...

Re: Setting up linux

are all the game that are made for windows compatible. Not by a long shot, unfortunately. If the game was made for OpenGL, then you can get it to work. If it has DirectX though, you can only make it work through an emulator that really cuts performance. and awhile back my bro told me linux was hard...

I didn't say I agreed with it, I just said it's how some corporations think. I agree, those who know the product/whatever best should be in charge of it. 8)
