As long as you don't expect to run everything at top settings, then yeah, that should do fine. With that and the graphics card, you could probably expect really high settings, anyway. More if you overclock. If you could go up to $200 for a proc though without feeling it too much money wise...

For what your main focus is with it, I wouldn't get a dual-core processor in it. But that's just me. 8)

Guess I shoulda posted here first...

Anyway, I'm BP, and I'm a computer addict. All: Hi BP! :) (And yes, I know that's overused...) And moving on, I found this forum through Apop's article on the ASUS Z71V when I was looking at building a laptop (and yes, the article was instrumental in helping me to do it.) My current system is the fo...

MicroATX cube cases

I've been thinking about getting a cubey of some sort for the stuff it's best at: lan parties. :)

Anyway, I like the Aspire X-Qpack, but that's a little too expensive right now. Does anyone know of some other good ones?

Um, it's already been built for two months.

And my sister only has 300 something meg's of ram in her big computer, and that's still fast enough for her.

I think I've narrowed the choices down to the Mini Typhoon, that Zalman one Apop mentioned, or the Ultra-90. The Zalman one is nice because it has a green led fan (I like green :) ), but if I'm reading things right it's not the best performer I could get. I'm looking for more overclockability, not l...

I would replace those fans that keep shorting out ( ) as soon as possible. That'll help, probably. Also, see if you can find out how much air your fans push, if they don't push alot, get ones that push more. This would make it somewhat louder, as the fans will be spinning faster, but it shou...

Hm, some good points. I'm not too keen to make a bracket myself.

Anyone know of some good AM2 heatsinks?

Heatsink for AM2

I'm looking at good heatsinks (as I'll be doing as much OC as I can) without resorting to liquids yet.

Does anyone know if this will fit the AM2 socket?

Question about memory for socket AM2

If I get an AM2 board and processor, I'll be getting a single core for starters, which means from what I've read that it'll only run the DDR2-667. If I were to put in a stick rated at DDR2-800, would it default to the slower 667 speed and still be usable, or do I have to get a stick rated at 667? I ...

Does anyone know where I could get a Mobile Sempron? I've only seen the 3000 for $103.99.

Anyone know of any other retailers who sell them?

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

Right now I've got 4 different ones I'm looking at.

ASUS a6u for $635

ECS 536 for $600

or

MSI ms1029 for $736.68 (the cheapest I've seen)

The Mitac 8889c seems to be just what I'm looking for, but I can't find anyone who has it for sale.

AMD barebones

I'm building a laptop for my sister for her graduation from college, and I'd really like for it to have an AMD processor in the central seat. But I have yet to find a barebone for around $500-$600 that's 15" (not widescreen) with basic graphics. I like the MSI MS1029, but the graphics are pretty muc...
