Can't do that yet though, need to fully figure out my new gaming comp (see my thread in AMD Motherboards), then I can have my old 200GB ide drive for this thing.
Well, after unplugging all the drives and resetting the cmos, it's gone, so no it's trial and error, changing one thing at a time, adding one thing, till I can find the problem again. :P And the cpu settings are definitely correct, as the only thing I changed in the bios was the cpu multi, htt speed...
I'm building a file server, using a Tyan K8SD Pro (S2882-D) with two Opteron 242's (Sledgehammer core). I want to run folding on it (should give me more points than just the XP 1600+ I'm running now ), but I don't know if it'll be able to finish SMP wu's before their deadline.
Here's my problem. I just upgraded my mobo from the XFX am2 board to the DFI lanparty am2 board. Here's my current specs... Definitely not the same. A has 462 pins, and 754 has, well, 754 pins.
You can get Socket A cpu's on eBay, if you really want to keep you're motherboard, but I'd recommend upgrading to at least socket 939 or AM2. Google those for more info.
Just one question, is this for a laptop? Specifically, an IBM Thinkpad 600E? (The model number you gave is a clue...) If it isn't, and is a desktop, then ignore the following. I've done a lot of research into older laptops, and if it is a Thinkpad 600E, then that cpu won't work in it. P3 laptops use...
