Re: Brand new Phenoms coming!!! 8-core!

It's hard to say if they are really bulldozers or not. It depends on what they are doing to these chips--if it were something completely new, they would be a long way off imo. So, I'm thinking they're changing something at the foundry. Could they implement previous phenom tech into the bulldozers at...

Brand new Phenoms coming!!! 8-core!

I just read this on another site and it got me excited about a new approach from AMD. The article does not give much detail but the leak leads to very interesting and hopeful speculation. I'm guessing they will be Bulldozers with new "stepping" with improved clocks. I just don't think that will be e...

Re: AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card Review

RE: Cuda: I think the "Cuda" software is geared for Nvidia cards. However, other programs like Adobe use Cuda and they work on AMD cards. It may work, but I'm guessing not as well, not as bad as Physix on AMD though. I can't say for certain. Nvidia is opening up their CUDA compiler source code for o...

Thanks for the info. The FX6200 sounds like an interesting chip with potential. :)

Re: AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card Review

Great review on an awesome card! I was chomping at the bit for a review of this new GPU series!!! I hate to say anything negative since it is clearly a winner, but I'm disappointed that PCIE 3.0 didn't make a difference. Maybe Catalyst tweaks can help later? I don't know. I figure NVIDIA will releas...

Re: Have You Been *Denied* A Mail In Rebate?

I haven't been denied, but MSI sure did take a long time to send my rebates (2 gpus and one mobo). The one video card took about 6 months! I got it in February, the rebate came in the summer. I get paranoid sending my only proof of purchase cut from the box..knowing that if they say I didn't send it...

AMD Bulldozer 8170

Last I heard, the 8170 was to come out in Q1 of 2012. Does this still hold true? Now let's speculate. With the higher clocks and the ability to overclock even higher, will this cpu compete with the 2600K? I think it will be able to knock off the I-5s that are still being compared if they allow it to...

Re: GeForce GTX 580 Showdown: ASUS Matrix vs.EVGA Classified

Great review of some great cards. I was wondering how you would pick a winner. You used the OC results to help decide, so what were the temps on OC? Did the temps compare the same as the stock temps? I'm guessing the twin fans were able to run at lower rpms over the single and move just as much air.

Re: AM2+ processor in AM3+ motherboard

If you have an AM2+ Phenom 2 processor, I believe you cannot run it with DDR3 memory. That was one of the limitations. My old machine, AM2+ Phenom 2 x4-940 runs amazingly close to my current machine when it is overclocked to 3.6ghz. I don't think you see a huge difference when upgrading the memory w...

Re: Splitted-Desktop Shows Fanless Sandy Bridge Cooling At I

I would expect a more refined product to be demonstrated at this event. It "does" look like they taped their heatpipes onto fins. We all know Apple's story, so this product, that looks like it was made in a garage, may be the future of computer cooling. However, I think it will have to go through mo...

Re: AMD A8-3850 APU Overclocking w/ 7 Processors

I understand not wanting to use the cd since they are usually outdated, but if you are searching and searching for drivers, I think I'd use the CD to get it up and running. You don't usually see 2 bios updates on such a new product that quick. Now graphics updates seem almost weekly sometimes. :D

Re: Zalman CNPS9900 MAX 135mm CPU Cooler Review

I have the CNPS-9500 on my AM3 board, no issues. I bought this for my old AM2+ system and so it's been running great for years. I would not hesitate buying another Zalman cooler in this line.

Re: Corsair Hydro Series H80 Liquid CPU Cooler Review

A friend of mine bought this cooler. I helped him install it. The heavy radiator unit with 2 fans on it is big and cumbersome. In his Corsair full-tower case (forget model) it's mounting was overtop the memory. This in my opinion was not ideal as air flow to the memory chips was then limited. He has...
