Re: 1156 Mobo question

Well, I ended up with this: ASRock P55 Extreme LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157172) I liked the price/feature ratio and being able to mount a 775 CPU cooler instead of being limited to just the few 1156 coolers available. So my bu...

Re: 1156 Mobo question

I read that review. The question I have is, would it improve the throughput of the video card I'm going to use (Sapphire Vapor-X 5870) or do I have to wait for new hardware to come out???

Re: SAPPHIRE Vapor-X HD 5870 1GB Video Card Pictures and Specs

Well I see they are sold out already. They must be handing these things out 5-10 at a time!! I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet, but, since I live in Northern California and it's shipping from the Bay Area, I should get it Monday or Tuesday. Now I've got to get busy building the comp it will be ...

1156 Mobo question

I'm putting a new system together with the i7-860 processor. I only play with my computers, so I need some advise from you experts out there. I don't (or at least haven't up to this point!) overclock so I'm looking for a board which will be stable at stock settings and not cost a ton (since I just s...

Re: SAPPHIRE Vapor-X HD 5870 1GB Video Card Pictures and Specs

WOW! Apoptosis you must have some kind of magic touch. I looked at atacom and was about to buy one there but decided to look at newegg one more time. AND there was the NEW Sapphire vapor-X card!! It's on the way, so now I have to decide what the rest of my new build is going to look like. I've decid...

Re: i7 920 vs i7 8XX question

Well, my plan right now is to only use one card since I'm waiting for one of the new ATI 5000 series cards. With the pricing I'm seeing right now my plan is to save a little money using the i7 800 and use it on the vid card. Thanks for your replies, I really appreciate (and need!) your thoughts. Chuck

i7 920 vs i7 8XX question

OK, I am the first to admit I'm a little slow....But I'm trying to make up my mind as to which processor, 920 vs 8XX, to buy for my next system (expected build date in October). From what I can figure out, there is the power diff (130 W vs 95W), different sockets, and the 920 supports three channel ...

HD 5XXX soon??

I'm getting ready to put a new system together. I've seen some articles mentioning there will be a HD 5000 series coming out but haven't seen any dates/price points. Does anyone know if they will be coming out soon?

Thanks!

Why no dual slot 4850's???

OK... So I am a bit tech challenged by all this new GPU stuff. However, with all the discussion about heat issues with the 4850's why didn't/or haven't more companies built the cards as dual slot with better cooling??? It just doesn't make sense to me........... I did see a dual slot HIS card on Zip...

My X1900XTX is about to give up the ghost...I'm waiting to hear reports from users here before I decide 4850 or 4870. They sure look like they are better in the price/performance arena...Hope it's soon!!

Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 7.5 problem

I Had a X1900 XTX card go bad on me, got a replacement sent to me, and downloaded these newest drivers. After about two days, my desktop screen seemed to lose its contrast. it got excessively bright to the point everything was real washed out looking and you could hardly read text on pop up menus. I...

Pentium D motherboard recommendations please

I'm about to build a new PC for my father. He doesn't want (or need) the latest greatest stuff nor does he want to spend a lot of $'s. I'm considering using a Pentium D as pricing seems pretty good on the bang for the buck scale. Does anyone have a suggestions on a good Mobo (at a good price!) for t...

I installed Vista a few months ago (If you haven't done it...wait!!!) and immediately had driver problems with my X1900 XTX 512. So I've been trying each of the beta's/releases as they've come out including 7.4. The reason I'm here at this forum right now is because I just had ANOTHER Crash. I have ...

Thanks for the info Dan. I've manually adjusted my RAM timings/voltage in the BIOS and everythings still running! I'll do some more study before I launch into the FSB adjustments so I don't fry anything (just yet!). The BIOS for this board don't make it real easy (IMHO....) to figure out how to do t...
