Re: keyboard cleaning
There was one instance where I basically took a keyboard completely apart. Soaked the plastic parts. Cleaned them off with a towel and let them dry overnight. And put it all back together again successfully. Of course I was a stark raving lunatic long before I ever considered doing this... Oh and I ...

Re: DX10 on XP PCUSER
I often thought that MS should apply DX10 to XP considering what a failure Vista has been. Actually, after having tried DX10 "on Vista" for 9 months, I didn't find much about it that I'll miss. For example: Hellgate London has a DX10 executable which enabled "motion blur&qu...

Re: Does Size Matter?
Well, I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but you may need to get into BIOS (stands for Basic Input/Output System and is encoded into a chip on your motherboard). Once there you need to figure out which page has the drive information (though it may start up to that page - depending on the...

Re: Microsoft Releases Windows Vista Service Pack 1
I was waiting very patiently for SP1 to be released. And it was really bothering me to continue to use Vista, when it was so messed up (and I'm putting it kindly). Then the 4th of February arrives and Microsoft decides that they can't release it. Which hit me like a slap in the face...! It was the p...

Re: Intel SkullTrail Preview - Dual Core 2 Extreme QX9775 CPUs
If "money wasn't of ANY concern..." I'd want one of these. Now I'm not sure what I'd do with it, except maybe some "folding".
But then again, maybe for that I'd be better off with 10 PS3s.

Re: Howto Guide: Overclocking C2D/C2Q Processors (v1.4)
Very Impressive Guide! Almost makes me want to go back to my P5B-Plus... nah! That doesn't make sense! I'm not trying to play Crysis, and all the other current crop of games work fine.

Re: Changing Themes in Vista
I would think that some of this info must be kept in the *.msstyles.mui file for that theme. But I don't know how to edit it. I'm just sure that if you did change it you'd have to patch uxtheme.dll. Though I guess you could use something like >> VistaGlazz . I'll be more interested in some of these ...

Re: Futuremark 3DMark Vantage Benchmark Screenshots
I'll leave the use of this software to the review sites. Simply put, I don't enjoy watching a pretty "slide show". If this suite contained software that would help me "optimize" the gaming performance of my system, then it would make more sense to purchase it. Then again it's ha...

I decided to pull that system apart and install the Koolance kit on that X1900 again. Then I can bump the core clock back up to 725MHz and it should fold much better.

Re: 360 into LCD
...my big problem will be waiting for the $ to get this darn cord! I hear you. I had to wait to get quick computer job so I could afford it. My situation is, um "different", and I can't really take a regular job these days. So I have plenty of time now to play Xbox games and surf the web,...

I don't have one WU done just yet... I checked the box to pull "large work units" and proceeded to pull a monster. It's about 2500000001 stages! :P So a couple more hours and it should finish. I know before that I never got a WU this size. And it estimated (last night) that this Unit would...

Re: PC Vs. Console
Forgive me if this seems like I'm beating a "dead horse" here (by reviving this thread). But when this discussion was taking place I only had a PC and therefor was unqualified to participate. Since then I got an Xbox 360, in October. And I'm favorably impressed. As many here have opined, I...

Re: 360 into LCD
yeah I'll try to help. I'm running my Xbox 360 with a VGA cable, and it is connected to an NEC 20WMGX² display. So that display is a 16:10 aspect ratio, with a native resolution of 1680x1050. Also of note is the fact that this display has component, and composite inputs. It even has a built in TV tu...

Am Trying the GPU client for a while...
Hi all. I downloaded and installed the GPU client on one of my computers. It's video card is an X1900. That system sits out in the living room and primarily helps me keep a running tally of the family's finances. My mother is elderly and my sister is in the middle of treatment for Cancer, so I've be...

Re: Official F@H GPU Work Unit Thread
Um, my general purpose computer has an X1900XT and I'd like to try using that to fold. Do I need to download a special version of the client? or will one of the regular clients work? Please Advise! (Thanks in advance!) :) Edit: I apologize profusely!! I should have just gone and looked before asking...

Re: January Forum Drawing - ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 Video Card!
Count me in please! Due to circumstances beyond my control... I'd never be able to afford one on my own now. I've been telling my best friend he needs to get one of these for a new build he's piecing together. So even though the last card I bought was an NVidia. I still recognize that ATI chi...

Re: ASUS Unveils AMD Radeon HD 3870X2 Graphics Card
Generally speaking, I've avoided Crossfire and SLi solutions in the past. Something about only being able to get a 40-60% increase in performance, when I almost never have the spendable cash for 2 of any card. Makes it untenable, if not unattractive, to even consider multi-GPU. The HD 3870 X2 howeve...

Re: Xbox 360 controller for Win XPSp1 and Vista?
Last fall a friend of mine bought me an Xbox 360. And while I do enjoy many of the RPGs and such, I am still adjusting to using the controller in FPS type games. In fact my friend wanted me to buy CoD4 for the Xbox 360 but I really want it for the PC instead. Don't get me wrong! I am getting used to...
