Re: New Gaming PC

I have to agree with Jodox. For $120-$150 more or so (plus some change) you could go with something like this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128425 You can go a bit cheaper on a P55 board but this one has 2 USB 3 ports at a great price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...

Re: Unigine Heaven Benchmark 2.0 For DX11 GPUs Released

Wow! Talk about bringing a 5870 to it's knees! That said I didn't close any programs or optimize for a bench. I'm sure that Fermi will beat the 5870 hands down in heavy tesselation but, to be honest, how many general population games are going to use tesselation to that level? I'm still very happy w...

Re: Vista problems

The problem is that the apps and data might be the problem (or a nastly little rootkit hiding out). My experience is that the best way to clean a virus infected system is usually a clean wipe and re-install. Backup the "data" (i.e. pics, documents, non exes) and scrub the drive. You will m...

Re: hdd question

My hdd is seagate so I downloaded their utility. I guess I will make an image of my drive on a USB drive using Seagates utility and then try to partition fix. My OS is updated to SP3 but The disk is SP1 and I have disks from MS for SP2 and SP3. I assume the reason for needing to Slipstream and make...

Me too, just cool that WD has gone that extra "unadvertised" step to include a full up package for free even with OEM drives.

Re: hdd question

Slipstream "injects" the service pack into the install. After you install a fresh copy of Windows you don't have to install the service pack via Windows Update. Did you download and take a look at the Autostreamer software? It's easier to use than nLite or doing it through the command pro...

Re: hdd question

If you refer to the links that Major_A provided. Autostream will take your original XP install CD and the XP SP3 file and merge the two crating a new XP install CD that will allow you to install WinXP SP3 directly to larger drives. To be honest I would do this before trying any partition resize work...

Re: hdd question

Slipstreaming in the SP will allow you to build an install disk that will support > 137GB partitions. In your situation you want to resize the partition without re-installing so if you are at XP SP1 or better you'll be fine (though slipstreaming the SP into an install media will be helpful if you ha...

First dragon pass (step 9 of 23 I believe) with those settings = 50fps

Those settings @ 1920 x 1200 = 45fps at step 10

You could try GPARTED : http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted-live-stable/OldFiles/0.4.6-1/ I've used this a couple of times with no issues. There are newer version but the GParted project recommends this one as some people are having issues with the newer versions resizing NTFS part...

Build for a music recording PC

I need to build a PC for recording music. I use a Line6 Toneport UX2 as the sound card. I have several of the parts but want to go quiet SFF so was considering the following two barebones. I have had three Shuttles and one MSI SFF and loved the Shuttles, the MSI was just OK (their first attempt at c...

Just ordered this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814131336.

Already have the Catalyst 10.2 drivers installed so I'm hoping for no issues, we'll see. I'll post any issues.

I would imagine this would be the same as if someone made a movie about the swine flu. People are all hyped up about the 2012 prophecy. All we need now is another Waco, TX event because some religious wackos think the world is going to end. A comedian (can't remember who) said once "So many id...

Re: Color Laser Printers - Educate Me.

I have the CLP-300 and have had no problems with it. But, as I posted above, I wouldn't use it for high quality color printing. I think any color laser in this price range is probably the same in that regard. I've had it about a year and a half maybe and am still on the original toners (almost empty...
