Re: Ga ex58 ud3r missing ram

From the manual: "When enabling Dual Channel mode with two modules, it is recommended that memory of the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used. When enabling Dual Channel mode with two memory modules, be sure to install them in the DDR3_1 and DDR3_4 or DDR3_1 and DDR3_2 sockets." vbironchef...

Re: Warmachine 3.0 (i5 2500K build)

For just gaming I probably would stick with the 2500k. Not sure about the overclockability differences but not having HT might help there. Took me about 1.5 minutes to get to a Prime95 stable 24/7 4.6GHZ on my 2600k. If I were building though I probably would go with a GEN3 Z68 board for a couple of...

Re: About To Use A Sledgehammer!!!!!!!!!

Not to be a smart alec but if you do make sure you video it! ;)

I would vote for the driver as well. You could try to go back to the 260 or 266 drivers. Or take vbironchef's advice.

Re: New Build suggestions

OK I gave it a shot. It is slightly over your budget in USD but there is a reason :) Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196 I have the Storm Sniper and it is a great case, had a friend build with this one and he loves it. That said, the case will be with you a long ti...

Re: Looking for a great wireless router - help needed

I am using a Netgear WINDR3700 and am pretty happy with it. I find the USB NAS feature to be finicky at times but that wasn't why I got it and it does work. I have three PCs, two DroidX, XBox 360, DirectTV HD-DVR, Blu-Ray player, one laptop, and two printers hitting it a various times and no real is...

Re: OK Decided on new build, what do y'all think?

That's a bunch of accessories. What do you think of the motherboard? I might go ASRock my next build. Seems like you get a lot more features than say an ASUS or Gigabyte for cheaper. The one I liked the most was the front 3.5" USB 3 adapter and the rear PCI panel included if you wanted more rear po...

Re: OK Decided on new build, what do y'all think?

Overall I am VERY happy with the build (I'll try to get pics of everything installed). Haven't experienced any real issues with the Asrock board, and the H100 cools like a mofo while being quite quiet. Had an issue with the initial RAM buy from the Egg (solved VERY quickly I must add!). The coolest ...

Re: Lucid Virtu Anyone?

Ahhh, got it now! I was wondering why every other vid I pulled down was FLV and the one I pulled down for a transcoding test was already an MP4. Learn something new every day :)

Now you see what I mean by "I don't use this much" :)

Yeah I know but Flash scares me ;) plus MP4 seems to work better cross platform.

Lucid Virtu Anyone?

Don't think its for me. ASrock licensed it and I installed it with my new Z68 mobo so I gave it a whirl. When in "i-mode" (HDMI connected to the IGMP H3000) I took a 3D performance hit (not huge in most cases but it was there). Ironically it didn't seem to power down the HD 5870 either so no power s...

Re: Corsair H100 Quick Look

Shoulda' called you Bubba :) ! I didn't think of tape, that would've made it easier. My biggest issue was getting it all lined up though. No matter how I tried to adjust the sliders I could not get all four to line up at the same time. Finally solved by doing the first loosely then adjusting the nex...

Re: Corsair H100 Quick Look

Load mode - Performance: While there is a considerable difference in temps between Quiet and Performance (and Balanced is right in the middle) it does come at a distinct cost to the ears (not horrible but not pleasant if you like quiet). I have opted for Quiet mode with a 4.6 ghz overclock for day t...

Corsair H100 Quick Look

Recently got one of these for my Rig upgrade to Sandybridge. Took some pics but they came out horrible so screen caps will have to do. Rig used in in the signature. Notes: The install guide is pictoral only, it didn't do me much good. The backplate has four sliding grommets to make it adjustable for...

Quick Opinions - Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago, mostly based upon reviews. Was intrigued by Smart Response and Virtu and the reviews highlighting the boards overclockability. First impressions: - Like the packaging, very subtle and not uber flashy. - Decent bundle (includes some multimedia apps and trials tha...

Saturday Ramble, Remember When?

Recently turned 50 and I remember when... My first PC (moving up from a C64 in 1985) was an XT compatible with the following specs: CPU - Intel 8088 @ 4.77 mhz (8mhx Turbo mode) RAM - 256k Floppy - 2x 5 1/4" 360k HDD - Seagate 20mb MFM (68 ms access time, half height) GPU - EGA graphics (640x350 res...

Re: OK Decided on new build, what do y'all think?

Got the H100 and the RAM in today. Ram install was a breeze, the H100 notsomuch ;) but it is in and installed. Actually I like what I've purchased but there are some quirky issues. I'll start another thread with my uninformed user views ;) EDIT - Mobo opinions here (I'm not a pro reviewer :) ) - htt...
