The original was, well, the original! Not to show my age but it was VERY early in reruns when I was a kid. TNG was pretty good... DS9 was well written but a little boring at times Voyager was pretty good but janeway grated on me at times The movies were all pretty good although a couple were kinda c...

Re: D975XBX2 Intel onboard lan oddity?

Hi folks, Does anyone have a delayed link with the onboard lan on this board? I have a two minute (approx) delay before I can access web etc. My router is synced and steady but it wont communicate as fast as my last set up using a d-link lan card  I see the intel pro network connection in dev...

I will second the Corsair PSU, 5 year warranty, stable voltages, modular cables, and quiet as a whisper. There are quite a few people overclocking successfuly with the Gigabyte. IMHO the determining factor should be features and the need for SLI. If you ever plan to SLI then the 650i is the obvious ...

It will be hard to say which is the problem (MB vs. RAM) without actually either trying the RAM in another MB or trying other RAM in your MB. I don't have many ideas other than what has already been mentioned. However you could try the following steps to see if it helps (make sure to write down your...

Re: Which colored SATA connectors should I be using and why?

Hello, Should I be using the red/blue sata connectors or the black ones for a single drive "raid ready" system? I'm currently running XP Pro on the BadAx2 mobo with a single drive connected to the red sata connector. XP runs fine except that before XP starts I too see the Marvell message: " Adapter...

Flashed 2618 BIOS worked great except I forgot to set my overclock back to default. The flash set the RAM back to auto (with the FSB still at 350) and I got the dreaded "3 beeps" since the RAM was way overclocked. Off came the side of the P180 and a jumper switch later (the only thing I don't like a...

Hello All, After considering your inputs I am going with this setup for hardware: ASUS P5N-E SLI Mother Board Not a bad choice, however my recommendation would be: If going with ATI cards go 965/975, If going with Nvidia go Nvidia all the way. This of course is driven by SLI/Crossfire requirements....

This may be a stupid question but is your Raptor connected to the Jmicron SATA plug or the ICH8 SATA? If it's on the Jmicron controller the "F6" driver install thing might be in play here? (nat familiar with the ICH8 and JMicron controller config so I may be way off base. Also, I am assuming that th...

Hello

Decided to build myself a new box after several years of using the same Shuttle XPC (A64 3500+, 1G DDR, Shuttle SN95G5, ATi X800Pro). My Shuttle was quite the little rig in it's day (especially for being roughly the size of a shoe box) but I needed more expandability (have 3 SFF PCs all with 1 AGP a...

My moderate OC (with no "cold start" issues): MB = 975XBX2 rev 505 RAM = Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 (not the fast stuff, rated at 5,5,5,18) Video = EVGA 8800GTS CPU = E6600 (it's an "A") CPU cooler = Stock Intel (crappy cooling tape and all) Voltages (set at default)" FSB = 1.250v CPU = 1.325 (in BIOS, 1...

Just curious. Why did you go with an Nvidia card? The BadAxe is designed and certified for ATI. If you ever wanted to use two video cards you won't be able to use SLI. ATI crossfire will work. -Mike, MXOtech In doing my new build I had a couple of tough decisions. Reading the 680i issues and the de...

Assembled the D975XBX2 box on Tuesday and installed Vista Business (retail version). Disabled the secondary SATA contoller in the BIOS to get rid of the Marvell scan at boot time. I was unable to install the chipset driver from the CD - - it gave an "Internal Error - Process timed-out" message. Sin...
