Re: Windows 7 Thoughts?
You can still dock gadgets on the side of your screen as if the sidebar still existed. It was either Paul Thurrott or Ars Technica had a good trick on doing this in just a few clicks. I liked the idea of gadgets, but after seeing how badly the ones I was using were written (they stopped working, sto...

foxconn wont disapear anytime soon, your boards may not have a foxcon brand name but i can guarentee you every one here has a board with at least 1 foxcon OEM component on it  Of course, even ASUS and Gigabyte use Foxconn parts in their flagship boards! Every single LGA775 socket cover see...

Glad you found the source of the issue! I spoke to soon about having fixed the F@H SMP client issues though. I spent awhile poking around the F@H forums but didn't ever find the solution or anyone reporting issues either. At first the SMP client was working like normal, got up to ~6% before I reboot...

and where is ABIT now? When I started Legit Reviews back in 2002 they were the motherboard to have... Today they are gone. Enthusiast boards get a ton of PR, but guess what everyone posting rave reviews on forums like xtreme systems were provided a free sample. They may look like the 'hot' product ...

Well, I don't have a Core i7 system yet, but I will be getting one at some point! So count me in... that's really some impressive performance.
It's nice to see Newegg FINALLY carrying something made by Noctua!

However, there are jobs lost in the retail store chains for shopping on-line. If people did a balance of store shopping and on-line shopping, good deals can be had more often. That's why the late 1980's were popular in retail. That's always the problem when buying anything online. You send that X a...

I tried this out after seeing your post but couldn't find any problems and mp3 files played normally? What was it doing or not doing for you? Yes it does, there is a workaround at the F@H f...

Re: FurMark 1.5.0 Graphics Card Stability Test Available!
Wow, I was using the really old 1.4.0 version. Current version is 1.6.5 which fixes crashing issues with the latest Catalyst drivers. The original URL only mentions 1.6.1, but http://www.geeks3d.com/?p=3200 is more current. The author mentioned 1.7.0 is soon to come bringing some new stuff. :) I jus...

Hmm, any idea on random write performance on these yet? I've seen one or two reviews of the Apex units but no thorough or explicit random write performance tests. The Vertex model has DRAM cache, correct? I at least know the Apex models have no cache... kind of strange that the slower model is named...

Re: TigerDirect.com Drops EVGA Products From Its Retail Site
Given TigerDirect's rather gray history and large percentage of negative customer experiences I don't shop with them. They never have the lowest price anyway though, so it's no loss. Probably just a stock issue and they didn't receive a date on when they could expect more in. It says it's a deactiva...

TEC's still output just as much heat as they take away on the cold side. So it's not like you are magically getting rid of all the CPU heat in the rest of the case. Dan Doh. #-o Okay, just ignore me. I know how a TEC works so I don't know what I was thinking there... ](*,) Still, chilling parts of ...

Yeah, that's a good bit of weight to be lugging around! After reading the rest of your post I guess this wouldn't exactly meet your needs either, but I was going to suggest if you need portability what about a NAS you can access when on the go? configured my NAS to be accessible from home or anywher...

Re: Intel Cooling Chips with Thermoelectrics
Is intel starting to be thermal limited for clock speeds again or something? Dan It is more efficient to cool a 25mm^2 area than to cool the entire inside of a computer... something like this makes far more sense than IBM's approach of designing water channels through the die itself and pumping wat...

Yeah, that patch was badly needed, some very good balancing on both sides of the game were done. They also fixed a ton of exploits that were getting out of control and ruining the game. About the maps... TF2 only had five maps for months after it launched. But I agree, 2 versus maps has just gotten ...

Anand was saying there is a huge difference in memory controllers, not the actual core silicon, that is behind the widely varying results. But this was to be expected, several people wrote articles that they were concerned about IMC stability when packed in next to four hot CPU cores. He just spent ...
