Re: Didnt Circuit City go bankrupt yet?

I wouldn't say I liked CC, but they certainly were a far cry better than BB. They wouldn't defraud or lie to you outright, and their computer service department never had nearly the colorful customer abuse stories GeekSquad is infamous for. Not to mention BestBuy doesn't have much of the computer ha...

What lights are these, and do they stay on? Does the CPU fan keep spinning, or does it stop again?

Re: never buy cheap psus?

i have a friend who did something like this. he scoured the internet for some generic cheap psus (the cheapest availible) and tried running them at their rated out puts to see what happened. he taped it to, i was there, but unfourtunatly, all of the footage was lost when on the last of 10 he bought...

Re: RAID setup

Two of those in a RAID 0 would be pretty blazing fast, if you are willing to spend that much to get it. Just make sure you have a 3rd drive that you daily backup your RAID'd drives to... In RAID 0 if a drive fails or anything happens to it, the entire array is toast.

Agent Pyrope Pyrope is a rose red garnet gemstone. These red hues of garnet have been known as the warrior's stone as it was historically placed on swords and shields carried into battle for protection against death and injury. This red garnet was even used offensively as a weapon, most notably as a...

Re: Caffeine Withdrawal Really Sucks

Wow, that's pretty nasty to hear how badly that stuff got ya. I guess individual physiology plays a significant role in if & how badly you can get addicted to this stuff. My one bad vice is I gotta have the fizzy stuff, got so bad I was able to eventually grow to like diet soda when I switched. (I d...

Re: Manual Fan Speed Control on the Radeon HD 4850 Graphics Card

Interesting fix!Might be best to just use a good aftermarket cooler though, good cooling and no noise issue... :) Did you have any problems getting ATItool to run with the 4850? Doesn't seem to like my fiancées new card. Crashes immediately on loading. Ya don't have a leftover Rivatuner installed or...

Re: ups's and battery warnings

I've been using an APC 1100VA back UPS unit since 2003, never had to replace the battery on it. The unit will once a week switch itself over to battery power and load test the battery to ensure it's still holding a charge. Believe it or not I still get over 5 minutes of use off it with the 24" monit...

Re: Need help choosing a motherboard

I personally would never use an NVIDIA chipset in my life, but that is because I tend to overclock and there are data corruption issues with their boards at some ranges. Also there are issues with Samsung drives and ASUS Xonar sound cards, and generally more driver issues. NVIDIA has made some rathe...

Re: Question about AMD

It's a decent processor in it's own right, but Intel's chips do usually outperform it. Intel's Quads do cost a fair bit more though, and it certainly is not the worst CPU ever made... I think Intel gets that dishonor. ;)

Re: CPU not working on MB

Only thing to try is to make sure the board is using the latest BIOS. As Sparky said, it is most likely because the E6850 uses a 1333FSB. P965 chipsets were not designed for 1333FSB processors, so it is most likely the board doesn't offer support for them. Intel validates P965 for 1066/800/533 FSB's...

Re: Antec Introduces Super-Premium Line of Power Supplies

Another premium brand PSU? First NeoHE, Earthwatts, then Quattro models, and now an absolute top-end model. $250 for a 650 watt PSU is a little much to swallow, even for 80+ Bronze efficiency. Not sure on price but Cooler Master's UCP line already has that.... and PC P&C's Quad Silencer line is 750w...

Re: Last motherboard for DDR PC3200 memory?

Unless buying used parts, if the only thing holding you back is DDR memory then it would be cheaper to build a new system with DDR2. You can get some really good hardware on the cheap right now, and can sell off your DDR as it costs more than DDR2 anyway. Finding a socket939 chip retail will be pric...

Re: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Is 55nm - Sneaky NVIDIA

Certainly won't complain about the new prices, but the naming scheme... so much for all those 55nm G92b is 9900GTX rumors. Nobody saw this "+" thing coming, which almost makes me think the only reason it launched like it did is solely because of AMD's parts being too competitive... Now if we can jus...

Re: NVIDIA Dictates Advertised Video Card Pricing

atleast newegg has that small window that pops up instead of navigating multiple pages. I just tested it out... apparently it does not even add it to your real cart. Because if you add things to your cart, they then stay there for a day or two. Most stores probably won't have it set up as convenien...

Re: NVIDIA Dictates Advertised Video Card Pricing

To bad Newegg didn't stick to their guns, they are an extremely huge retailer with a good deal of weight. They should have given NVIDIA the finger after NVIDIA threatened to cut them off. I am extremely annoyed over this, not only does it make search engines useless but nothing gripes me more than h...

Re: Artifacts on old ATI x550.

sounds to me could be memory on the vid card is bad. That would make sense. When it hits higher needs usage, it messes up. I just wouldn't of though openning up control panel for example would of taxed the card as hard as say a video. Doesn't really matter how taxing it is, both 2D and 3D still use...

1) Remove the black plastic cap from the EPS12v connector so you can use all eight pins. The plastic is there to show users where to plug in an AUX 4pin connector IF they do not have an EPS12v connector. 2) Power supplies sometimes come with fan headers so they can be plugged into the motherboard an...
