The only requirement for video editing is directdraw as this alows the frame buffer from the video to be writen directly to the screen, so your $300 card will add nothing to your video editing. all that stuff is for gaming. Correct. Video editing is very CPU and memory intensive so if you are looki...

There are some Window's customization apps out there where you can change the look of your windows, menu's and even mimic the MAC OS X,etc. but I'm not sure if they will provide the solution you seek. I don't like using these because they eat CPU and memory availability.

I have the ABIT AV8 and I'm not that overly impressed. I was thinking of upgrading to a new board with AGP & NVIDIA chipsets. This looks perfect, thanks Bio-Hazard. Unfortunately, there is no news of this on their site (at least that I could find) so no specific release date yet. :(

Funny how this is opposite of how MAC's arrange desktops (at least they used to, I haven't used OS X),

I bought a "refurbished" Dell Ultrasharp1704 for $265 a little while back and it is a great monitor. I use it for a second monitor so I don't use it for gaming etc. I read somewhere that the majority of their "refurbished" models are actually returns that had no real problems. However, they can't le...

RAID Question

When I set up my computer, I used a RAID 0 configuration. Now, I'm wishing I went with the RAID 1 instead for the built in backup. My question is, can I back up or image my current system and wipe the disks, changeover to RAID 1 and restore my data on the RAID 1 format? I don;t want to do a clean in...

If it isn;t backwards compatible, I'll prolly go the way of the PS3. I chose the XBOB originally because I liked the internal HD rather than relying on memory sticks. It's pretty cool to be able to add your own music to games. I'll have to compare the specs of the 2 offerings...

Anyone hear whether or not the new system will be backwards compatible with the old XBOX games? It would really suck if they aren't :x ...I hear the new Playstation will be able to play the PS2 games.

I'd have to check the voltage when I get home but I think it's at 1.3. I'm betting it's the temp sensor or BIOS code (the recent versions were supposed to fix the temp issue). If I'm going to go through all the hassle of putting on the stock fan to test it, I'll get a new board :) I'd rather have th...

As mentioned, I'm using the AV8 board (3rd eye - which is where I am watching the temps) with a Zalman CNPS7000B-CU HSF. I don't use the variable speed control with the fan, I just leave it at the max - the noise doesn't bother me. My case is a Lian Li PC-60 (supposed to be one of the cooler cases) ...

What temp are people seeing at "idle"? I typically see 45-47. If I overclock to about 2.3GHz under some load I am getting up around 60. I'm using the ABIT AV8 board and temp readings have been known to be inaccurate so I'm not sure that the temps I am seeing are right. Although I have blue screened ...

I ended up re-seating my HSF last night and I'm still getting the same temp readings. I'll post a question elsewhere so I don't hijack this thread.

V, Very easy to set up... mind you to either have another system to follow the CD, or to printo ut the instructions if you've never installed on before...but this is a very nice setup. Unlike most prefabbed kits, Corsair used very good components Luckily, I do have another system which happily resi...

Nice review. I have been contemplating picking one of these puppies up ever since the announcement of the release was posted. I'm not very knowledgeable regarding water cooling and I was concerned it may be a little difficult to install. I have plenty of room in my Lian Li PC-60 case so if I can tal...
