Re: Vista SP1-RC available .

Well since now SP1 is official, and since finally i have some free time i gave it a shot. In fact i thought why not go for the x64 version. Well i was amazed, really. I installed from an sp1 dvd. The system was very fast. It felt more responsive than vista 32bit (with no sp1). I would stick with it,...

Re: will i see improvement if i upgrade from amd3200 to phenom

You will see an improvement. The fact that you have more than one cpu core makes the system in general much more responsive. You know you could upgrade cheap with a used X2 4200 (939) (its performance is on par with intel's E4300 and E1260). It would be a very good and cost effective upgrade. Even i...

The Earth as a Work of Art

An interesting slip in the research-eu magazine. It has some beautiful sat images of earth. This issue, produced in cooperation with the Helmholtz Association, combines Art and Science in a series of surprising satellite images. A world tour in technicolour… You can preview them here: http://ec.euro...

Re: Bad processor?

what core 2 is it? which model. Maybe it needs a bios update? Did you check the mobo manufaturer's page for cpu compatibility (they tell you there which is the lowest BIOS version you need)?

Re: Toms Hardware Cooler reviews Part 1

Well it seems to me they failed just the ones that didn't work well for them. OK say their NV120 HAS a metal shavings problem, so they fail it. What about some IFX14 that don't have a flat contact surface with the cpu? Or the Ninja plus problem i have read, that its mounting is too weak and sometime...

Re: Looking to OC a E6320

Depends on your cooling and how high fsb your mobo can take. The cpu has a low ratio so you need high fsb. It should be ok till 2.7 with stock aircooling (you will have to test) but over that you will need something better.I think 3.2 ~3.4 is something you can expect with a good mobo and cooling. I ...

Re: Raid #0

As said you can't and you shouldnt try!
IF you had a hardware raid controller (thus the raid is saved in the controller BIOS) then you could move both drives and the controller to another computer, but only alltogether

Re: Gettin tired of Asus....

Probably doesn't apply here, but I had read that some highend asus mobo's overvoltage the memory without this showing up in bios etc. Actually the user had 3!! dead ram kits (he was running them at 2.3) because of that. After working for 4-5 months they would die! The kits that died were: 1-teamgrou...

Re: Legacy computer, winFLP or win2000?

It would definately be more useful, but the thing is that i have it already, besides they only need it as a starter. I was seriously thinking about searching for some old sdram dimms, but lets see how it copes first (and god it needs alot of cleaning. it's as dusted inside as a pc can be) I'll give ...

Legacy computer, winFLP or win2000?

I have an old system here, its a P2 Celeron @ 400 with only 64MBs of SDRAM (both banks occupied, i might look for some more but not now). It was used at the office i was working and they don't need it anymore, so i want to fix it and give it to a friend. Currently it has windows 95!(yup.. and the gr...

Re: Phenom worth it?

Its a cheap upgrade to quadcore, especially if your current motherboard supports it. Just make sure you test the chip well when you buy it because today i read there are some chips with a faulty 3d core out there http://forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=319&threadid=90533&enterthread=y&STAR...

Re: help me out.

So the phenom isn't as bad as it sounds? lol. I hear nothing but, horrid things about it. I Think the whole deal with phenom is that it didnt live up to the expectations at all. Mediocre performance, high wattage at high speeds and in general unable to compete with intel quads in performance. It ma...

Re: help me out.

to upgrade to phenom, you would have to get a new mother board any way. phenoms are socket am2+. thats one thing i dont like about amd, they change their socket type too much soo you have to buy a new mobo more often. intel has been using lga 775 for (i think) about 3-4 years now, and it looks like...
