Yes but Linux is still the more difficult to use and still needs to be more consumer friendly to give M$ any concern.

I doubt that you would loose data. I was more concerned with the fact of stability as I'm running it on my office computer. I didn't want to be in the middle of something and loose a few hours of work cause the beta made my system reboot.

I wonder how fast it is compared to a hardware raid stripped across 8 drives. I have read about this a couple of years ago and I wanted to figure out what they did to make something like that as it shouldn't cost that much money. I wonder if someone could build something like that on their own?

I'm running XP Pro on a 6300. It isn't pegging the CPU on both cores so I figure it might be possible to install a second copy in another directory. Then get the first one going set the affinity to cpu 0 and the second to cpu 1 and that should do it. I would just have to lookup how to automate setti...

Try booting with no video card (you should get one long beep and three short beeps) just to be sure it isn't that. Fire it up with no memory in it (endless repeating beeps). You should get some beeps indicating that it registers the fact that there is no memory. If you don't get beeps from either te...

Dual core folding?

Has anyone got this folding project running two instances on a dual core. Each running on its own core? I figure it would help our score, but I don't want to put in the work if it doesn't work.

Be sure to put a tinfoil hat on too =)
But seriously tinfoil and cardboard can make a great HD antenna too. Tinfoil isn't just for cooking.

LOL tape drives... I remember how fast the Coleco Adam's tape drive was compared to the Atari and thought it was so fast that it would be at least a few years before anything would touch it.

OH those were the days.

a few years

I been working on computers and networks now for a living for 17 years though I used to dink around with Atari and Apple computers before that. I'm good with systems and trouble shooting all kinds of problems. The only computer that I never got to play with was a TI/99 I might just have to get one o...

There are some that are such as WoW. But the over all is why buy this when a better video card or more ram typically have a bigger impact. What I'm saying is that even among popular games there are differences.

This should have been tested with a broad range of games. GRAW happens to have an optimized networking subsystem. Not all games have an optimized networking subsystem. I have seen a review here where showing the differences between games and CPUs
