Re: Which is a better CPU?
Maybe we should start being biased toward AMD. I mean if we keep choosing the better priced and better performer intel is going to keep killing them until they are out of business. When it's just Intel the CPUs will not evolve and prices will shoot up.... lolibleet wrote:I vote for the Intel cpu.

Re: Grid racing frame rate issues.
i tried to reproduce and couldn't didn't get lower than 30FPS at highest settings donuts or not I'm returning my video card and I got an open box from the egg that was a GTX 260 core 216. For 129 by XFX. I'm guessing it had to be hardware related. Because in Crysis, I was playing maxed out with the...

Re: Asus M3N78 PRO Barebone Kit on Tiger
I would choose Intel over AMD for gaming any day of the week. When push comes to shove, any decent-clocked AMD x2 or up will game well with a decent graphics card, at a lower price-point. Difference between a few framerates doesn't cut it when cost-effective spending is involved, so I recommend peo...

Re: Asus M3N78 PRO Barebone Kit on Tiger
I would choose Intel over AMD for gaming any day of the week. it's just that I know more about AMD than Intel I was an AMD fanboi since back in the day when they first made the AMD 1800+. From that day all the way until the X2 series. Even when Intel was crushing them I decided to stay with AMD in ...

Re: Asus M3N78 PRO Barebone Kit on Tiger
ok, if you want a budget gaming rig, instead of getting a quad and a cheaper GPU, spend more on the GPU and less on the CPU. Get a GTX 260 or HD 4870 and a nice dual core wolfdale. For gaming quads are nice but don't skimp on your graphics card. Either get a e5200 like I did and overclock it to 4.0....

Re: 4870 fps colapses
If that's true then why the new 120 Hz montiors and TVs? I can tell a big difference especially in the eye strain category. It's a lot easier to stare at a high refresh rate for long hours, i.e. your computer at work. If you have a very good quality LCD usually it's fine on the eyes, the cheaper on...

Re: Which is a better CPU?
just from the few screenshots I could find for PCmark05 and superpi, both are synthetic tests so I am not 100% sure if it translates to real world. But, the intel appears to be significantly stronger. As for AMD vs Intel. It's a hard game to guess. Intel has been KILLING AMD in the high end stuff. B...

Re: 4870 fps colapses
Another thing I notice is that you say 250fps. As I understand it, you mean frames per second. The human eyeball can only see at roughly 60 frames per second, which is to say that anything above that is wasted. And even if you have 250, if he has a basic 24" LCD I doubt the refresh is higher than 6...

OCCZ linpack questions.
Why does this make my CPU SOOOOO much hotter than prime/orthos, gaming, benchmarking and everything. The max my CPU gets gaming is 61C the max benchmarking is 60C and the max gaming is 54C, yet this program raises my temps to almost 70C!!!!! Is this normal or are my other programs just not running a...

Re: 4870 fps colapses
Welcome to LR. And to start off I'm assuming you are saying your frame rate is lower than it should be in cod 4. Right? I'm only getting about 115-125FPS average I don't know how anyone can get 250. Have you benchmarked it using fraps? What are you actually getting? Are you sure that you are not jus...

I'll post some screen shots up in a bit. But, crysis modified to DX10 in XP using a zip file by someone named MrGnome. I can still get 32FPS @ 2xAA. Looks perfect and I seem to no longer have that glitchness I was posting about.

Re: E5200 help
You gotta factor in the $200+ savings just in motherboard, and then another $100 in ram. So the i7 is still a bit pricey.

@ 1.45 my idle temps are 36C and my load temp after 15 mins of Orthos so far is 67C with a peak of 68C. I don't know if that would make a difference on how much I can supply I got a nice heat sink :-D lol. I'll probably lower it if everyone agrees it is hurting it. While I played GRID for about 25 m...
